Baxi Duotec Combi 24HE Error Code E133

Hi,
We moved into a new house 6 months ago and it had the above boiler. A couple of months ago we got the error code E133. We reset the boiler and it started working fine and we've not have the issue since. Until yesterday and today. Yesterday we woke up with the error message. Yesterday I reset the boiler, and it worked fine for the rest of the day. Today I woke up and the same error, I reset it and it worked fine again. I don't suppose anyone has an idea of what this might be?
I was going to call a gas engineer out, but my worry is that they won't be able to see why the error is happening because it's all working fine when they come. Or should they be able to see what the problem is despite it working when they come? Or will this just end up being a try and see thing?
Thank you
Glen

Does it only happen first thing in the morning0

Hi. These last couple of times have been in the morning. The first time was in the afternoon.
Thank you for the video. The first time it stopped I watched the video and I reset it to get it working again. My concern is this time it's happened a few times and might be something on the way out. I'd really like to catch it before we're left with no heating or hot water!0 -
Intermittent faults are difficult to 100% know what was wrong. The fault code relates to gas/ ignition. Poss gas vavle sticking, governor at meter sticking, low gas pressure.
I'd probably see if it does it the next couple of days and if it does I think you'll need to get someone into look at it.0 -
I've got the same boiler and recently had the same fault. Boiler fitted in 2010 and fine until recently. E133 fault sometimes when switching on, sometimes when already on for hours. Becoming worse.
Boiler was working when engineer checked it and I was given a list of possible faults. Engineer explained early models of this boiler had a poorly designed spark igniter (Not sure if thats the right name). The gap on it closes over time. He took a punt and replaced it with a re designed newer version. Quick and easy to replace. No problems since.
The part looked simple and cheap. £10-£15 ?
It looked like this https://www.plumbnation.co.uk/boiler-spares/product/baxi-720222801-electrode-ignition-was-5114702/?gclid=Cj0KEQiAxeTFBRCGmIq_7rGt_r8BEiQANdPqUh63ECFiqZOd6tfcP6uEfBI4VPcQ8YrCgy6DT1T9zT0aAqB48P8HAQ0 -
Hi, So I rang around to find out my options and it seems like these are them. What would you more likely go for?
1) Get the local guy in to trial and error, he said he would start by replacing the electrodes (there are 2 apparently) and that'll cost about £100 (includes labour). Then if that doesn't work he'll replace the gas valve, which will likely be around £200 (includes labour). Then hope that sorts it out.
The other option
2) Do it through Baxi who will definitely fix the issue at a fixed cost of £369.
What would you guys go most likely go for?0 -

A lad at work had a similar problem and took out an insurance policy for £15 per month. Sounded too good to be true to me though.0 -

That's interesting. So take out Boiler cover with someone like SSE. Which currently is £12.68 and call them out to fix it. Don't they have an initial no callout period?0 -

Not sure how he managed it to be honest, it sounded too good to be true. I know when I took out mine it said I couldn't claim for a month though, but mine only cost about £8 per month. I have never used mine so I'm not sure how it works.0 -
Hi, could a faulty earth electrode cable cause this issue? So if the boiler didn't think it was grounded then it might not light up. It's something a gas engineer suggested might cause the issue. I didn't overly understand. I was curious if this could be the case.
I had the electrodes replaced and the issue still exists. So am trying to work out the next step.0
