  • Cherryfudge well done on the run!!!

Parsniphead I share your pain on the Quorn, whatever I do its vile. Think I just don't like the texture.

I made some lemon curd ages ago - I think from a recipe on Greying Pilgrim's thread, it was delicious. Some recipes are easier than others. You just have to be careful not to make scrambled egg :rotfl::rotfl: HM lemon curd makes really good lemon cakes etc. too.

Good luck with the budgeting Cf.

Thanks SS1000 :). I may go and look up that recipe. Forum recipes tend to be tried and tested as well as MS, which is what I need.

So far my trawling through my brain, purse and bag has revealed the following:

14th: Paint roller/tray/paint guard for Mum's house £7.54 (still need to reclaim from the estate) (Done)
    Housekeeping £1.90
15th: Shampoo hose £6.29 (still to reclaim from the estate) (Done)
Housekeeping £1.84... that was the day I nearly set the kitchen on fire - making 5 times in my life I've done that.
    16th: NSD
    17th: NSD
    18th: NSD
    19th: Housekeeping £6.62
    20th: Housekeeping £8.50 (IOU DH)
    Medical £7.50
    Mortgage £10
Magazine subscription £16.70 - I had forgotten that was due! Wondering whether to cancel but I think I'll keep it for now. Looking on their website I think that could be for 6 months so if I cancel in about June I can reconsider whether to renew later.
    21st: Housekeeping £8.03
    Household £7.97
    Garden £3.98
Mortgage £70.00 - I discovered I hadn't made the usual overpayment earlier in the month. That brings it up to the amount I used to pay before the rates changed.

I also need to put £2 into the milk kitty when I have cash. The till wasn't working earlier. 13p I happened to have in change has already gone in!

I will go and sort out my 'estate' claims right away. (Done :) ).

ETA: I get £3 loyalty payment while I keep the account in order and have £7.99 going out each month for my phone. This is likely to be a bit more next month as I'll need to top my Internet access up for next time I'm at Mum's house. Just noting it here for the record. My daily spends could do with reflecting DDs and SOs. That reminds me, I need to postpone my next contact lens delivery as I have a lot to spare. That will save £14.

Oh dear I am daft! I went into the mortgage account to change the direct debit for the mortgage so I wouldn't accidentally miss the regular overpayment and managed to cancel the direct debit! Then I find I can't alter it online. Grrr! I was sure I'd done it in the past.

That means I'll have to go into the branch in the next couple of days to get them to set it up again - though at least that gives me the chance to get a new cheque book as well. For some reason that can only been done through the branch nowadays.

At least it will help keep my step count up. :)

How annoying, I changed my mortgage DD over the phone but then you won’t earn any steps:)

I got the steps in and sorted things out so I am now paying the mortgage again!

Where did yesterday's lovely spring weather go? It's gone bitterly cold again! I did get myself to the greengrocer again while I was in town: I used to go regularly. It's a great place to look for bargains. This time I got a big bag of tomatoes, another of mushrooms and three decent-sized onions for about £1.40. Tomorrow I will probably make tomato soup. I also popped into the supermarket for some bits and pieces but other than I've been at work.

    Spends:
    Housekeeping £5.36
    MS stuff:
40p's worth of tomatoes and 40p's worth of mushrooms from the discounted box at the greengrocer's - should make a basis for four or more soups. :)
Took note on OneBrokeLady's mention of the Leek Croustade from The Cranks Recipe Book: may take advantage of that while Mr T has leeks on offer.

  • Homemade lemon curd is lovely. Have you got a double saucepan ? A glass bowl over a saucepan work just as well and will help prevent scrambled eggs.

No double saucepan but I will take note of the glass bowl thanks. Lemon scrambled eggs don't appeal! :D

No lemon scrambled eggs today. :D

No home cooking at all in fact, but I cooked at work so I don't feel too deprived. Now I have a weekend off so I'll try to use those lemons.

Nothing spent and a little saved as I gave my hair a trim and I'm pleased with how it's turned out. Tomorrow may be more spendy, though, as DH wants to get some clothes and I've been wearing the same cold-weather clothes for so long I would love something new, especially as spring went back into hiding after a whole day of showing its face.
