I could write a book on the things that have been found at that house! Maybe I will, one day. :D

Nothing spent today. The rest of the world (it seems) is going back to work tomorrow: I have one more day at work then a day off. :)

In view of several people losing their diaries recently (probably victims of the 'Spam' button, I decided to copy mine into a Word document as the powers that be don't seem to be able to get these lost diaries back.

It's interesting looking back to the first days of posting! Copying and pasting, along with some basic editing to get rid of all the formatting, is quite time-consuming. I've only managed a couple of pages so far.

If you're going to attempt it to save your own diaries, folks, allow plenty of time. :)

  • Try going to thread tools at the top of your diary Cherry and select printable version. That should cut out most of the stuff you don't want and make it easier to copy and paste.

It's a good idea to take a copy of your diary, I copied mine after Sun Addict lost hers.

Thanks Hairy, that is very useful and time saving! I'm up to p.20 now: that's 2/3rds done. Yours must have taken ages, it moves so fast! I can never keep up though I do read. :)

Nothing spent today but I got out for a run and unexpectedly a new personal best, so I am a happy bunny! A brilliant rainbow, views for miles, snowdrops on a sheltered verge and some warmth in the sun: what more could I want? It was lovely.

I think I only managed to go as far and as long as I did because I kept my pace well down and my stride short. MS too: a fiver less than the gym :). Mind you I would go to the gym if membership were cheaper. I used to be a member but didn't have time around shifts to go often enough to justify membership, and then I worked out I was burning nearly half the calories of the session just by walking there, so I might as well cut my losses and get free exercise. :)

About 10 hours after I got back, I still feel fantastic for the exercise. It's funny how some days I feel rubbish and in need of a rest, and others I feel on top of the world. No run tomorrow: I have a couple of appointments in the morning, my piano lesson in the afternoon and my group in the evening.

I still have £5.55 in my purse from housekeeping money, so along with things in the cupboards and freezer I should be fine for another day by which time it will be payday and I can do a bigger food shop again.

I had the following reply to my message to admin:

    Hi there,

The spam button has now been re-instated. This and several other temporary measures had to be implemented over the weekend unfortunately.

Whilst we appreciate that loosing some of our very long standing threads then as explained in our forum rules and guides we cannot re-instate a thread once it's gone. This is for legal reasons as if we re-instated it we would be the publishing party and therefor legally liable for any content. Hope this helps clarify.

You may see certain features change as we adjust following the weekends problems but we hope to have the forums back running smoothly soon!
    Regards,
    MSE Forum Team

I can see why they can't themselves reinstate threads but I wonder whether original authors might somehow be given access to their work? Could be tricky and complicated, I suppose, and would have to involve some sort of a disclaimer.

By the way I see that spam button has disappeared AGAIN!

I'm glad it was useful Cherry :). My diary didn't take too long to copy and paste as it has only been running for four months believe it or not! It feels like so much longer, although I have belonged to this forum for over ten years. I try and copy it every day to keep on top of it.

Well, it's day off time again and this morning I've had a couple of appointments already and am now sitting in a house full of clutter trying to work out where to start.

As I have my piano lesson later and my group to prepare for this evening, I think I'm going to do 15 minutes at each job then move on. The theory is that gets something done and breaks the inertia of 'where do I start' because I know that in an hour's time I'll have done a bit of everything.

I also typed an extra post last night then lost it when our Internet went off. The gist was that I've found a recipe in one of Mr Oliver's books for no-cook pickles which could be a quick way of saving/using excess carrots and cabbage and some cider vinegar I'm busily not using (no need for coleslaw today). That might be a good 15 minute job when I've done the fun stuff like cleaning. :D

DH has also reminded me he has £15 left over from last week's shopping money. I've spent a bit on milk and jam this morning which came out of the £5 or so I had left over, and need to think about tea tonight. I've also realise a possible reason the money has lasted so well: I keep different budgets in different purse compartments and small coins are leaking through from one to the other!

Well, I got a fair amount done and not too much spent... house still needs tons done to it but all I managed was the surface work in the kitchen, quite a constructive amount of piano, some typing that needed to be done, some laundry and ironing (even putting away) and tea from the freezer. There really is genuinely space in that freezer now! That's a good thing as it's been jammed with odds and ends. DS2 complains about it regularly but if I keep making a deliberate effort, it may eventually resemble orderly storage.

    Spends:
    Housekeeping £3.84
    Book (download) £0.99
    MS stuff:
    Dinner from freezer & cupboards
Managed not to need the tumble dryer
