Sadly, we haven't and DH has just bought the Tesco one for £7.20! I'm not sure whether it comes in different sizes but I looked back at my spending diary and I bought one in April for £4.49!

ETA: Turns out it cost more but is also larger so that's not so bad.

Grand daughter day today: DH and Auntie took the early shift with her then Auntie went to meet up with friends and DH took DGD to her activity. I met up with them later and we spent the rest of the day at their house. It was really warm but there's a play tent in the garden and a cool lounge so we were fine. Poor DH is still having coughing spasms and has fortified himself with cough sweets and linctus.

I had my pizza and study evening with my friends, and when I got back it was to find that Auntie has nearly lost her voice. As H has exactly the same (no pain but it sounds painful), I'm wondering who will get it next.

No spending from me: DH got bread, cough sweets and a juice.

Auntie went home this morning, and Dh went to work. I was a bit uptight thinking Auntie would be in a flap about getting to the station early but it turned out she was remarkably relaxed - so I feel rather guilty for pre-judging her. :( And the day has been warm and cloudless and I've had the house to myself, which has been nice.

I'm really not very good with guests, am I?! It's partly that I have to clear clutter for them to come, which is nice afterwards but stressful at the time, and partly that I want personal space but feel I need to e at least a bit sociable. Anyway, she had a nice time which was the main thing.

I went a bit mad on laundry as the day is so warm and breezy and I had all day, so I've done three loads, especially things like mattress and pillow protectors on hot or disinfectant washes - so all is super-clean and summery. It's so nice bringing in towels off the line that are warm with the sunshine. Of course I've got ironing and putting it all away now.

I also ran the dishwasher and defrosted the freezer, so I feel Housework Has Been Done.

I'm so glad it's me and DH tonight and we can just relax! I'm making the rest of Sunday's chicken into a chicken and chorizo pasta, and and looking forward to the space in the fridge. :) Poor DH was coughing really badly last night and went to sleep on the sofa where he could be cooler and more propped up. He seemed to drop off fairly soon after that but he will be tired from taking Auntie out (though she went to friends later and on to tea with J and L).

I didn't mention that A sent me a link for a job that he thought might suit me. He's usually a pretty good judge but it does involve spreadsheets, which I've not done for years. I can't say the thought of it makes my heart sing, but I am feeling as though its time I made some move towards work again. Just thinking about my job is stressful and a new one might be the way forward.

Maybe Auntie was happier to travel while the day was cooler?

I’m glad auntie had a nice time. I can’t remember the last time we had guests so it’s something we’re not experienced in. Thinking about it I don’t think we’ve ever had planned guests 🤔

Auntie is an experienced traveller but worries about everything... but DH said she will hide her worries from me more than she does from him. I could tell she wasn't 100% relaxed because she said the seats in the shade were cold, so she started walking up and down, while I was quite comfortable there... it's nice that she didn't have to travel through the afternoon, though. It really was hot!

I have the bedding back on the beds, the freezer back in action and some leftovers from the weekend are eaten, all of which are positives. On the negative side, I'm struggling over looking at new jobs. Just grieving my old job, I think. Well, it's still my job, but I'm not going back there while I have so many concerns over it. I texted A to thank him for the job link and explained about the spreadsheets, but he seems to think I'd still be employable as a lot of the spreadsheets are templates. I still can't say my heart jumps at the thought of it - how to explain to someone who can do maths that someone close to him finds it easier to deal with a seizure than input data?!

Then I had a further look at the jobs bulletin and discovered a relief job that would use a lot of my skill set, so I've printed out details to look at tomorrow.

£1.99 spent on an e-book to cheer me up.

Fingers crossed that 2nd job is more suited to your skillset. I wonder if the process of realising you are able to find work elsewhere will help reduce the impact your old job has had on you, and enable you to leave it behind?

The relief job sounds a better option for you than the spreadsheet one. No point taking a job you won't enjoy.

It sounds like thinking about your job is stressing you out, hugs.
