:D It's true, isn't it! I think in our case I have lots of frozen fruit, particularly blackberries, as the garden yields masses but I save them for family puddings and of course we aren't making those. I need to put some into the fridge for DH who will cheerfully add them to tinned fruit and I might put a few in my overnight oats - that would save half a freezer drawer in time for the next harvest!

I'm not sure what's taking up the rest of the space... there will be frozen peas, sweetcorn, spinach and peppers because I make sure we always have those in, and DH has some fishcakes and I think there's a bag of chips... but that still leaves more than half the lack of space unaccounted for...

I woke up at seven and found myself starting to fret about stuff still to do on the old house so I got up and so far have done laundry and quite a lot of my French language app. Dh is out for a cycle ride and I need a plan:

    • choose cake to bake - chocolate
    • bake cake
    • prep for tonight's meeting
    • go into work to do PCR test (could wait till tomorrow) - tomorrow
    • do Flow test (could also wait till tomorrow but they now need to be done on the same day and in ten years' time this will make no sense) - tomorrow
    • send on DS2's post - done
    • sort out another box of papers - done!
    • Water plants
Back later to update. 2.30 update in italics

List above all done apart from tests which can be done tomorrow and watering plants, which will need to be done if it doesn't rain tonight. I had a lovely evening with my friends and walked there and back, thereby burning off a little of the cake.

I got some shopping as there wasn't enough cocoa to finish the cake, and nearly stuck to the list. I also found a leaflet in a box I was clearing, showing stained glass-effect stickers for windows and glass doors. As we're wanting to replace our old back door with a clear glass one we've been thinking of adding a stained glass effect to give a bit of privacy and stop people walking into it. When I Googled the firm they are still in existence and I liked the designs better than those shown us by a local company.

We have also had a spend of £66 as the erratic TV reception failed completely. It turned out a cable was damaged by the old satellite dish but it's fixed now.

    Spending:
    Household £66
    Housekeeping £9.13

Things I'm thankful for this evening: time with friends, lovely weather, chocolate cake, knitting, scented roses. June has the best smells, apart from possibly those of Christmas!

Ooh, new look forum. I'm okay with it though it's a bit odd having the text to the right of the page. Was it always like this? I think it was to the left. At the moment it feels as though the left of my field of view is out of focus because the left-hand quarter is plain pale blue!

It's too hot today to do much though a bit of laundry was laundered and I watered the hanging baskets along with adding a few plants I'd bought for them some weeks ago. A quick sweep of the paths and chopping off an adventitious bramble have entirely failed to convince the world that the garden is immaculately kept, but it does look just a bit neater. DH had a former colleague round for a garden lunch, hence the activity. He'd already cut the grass and washed down some garden chairs so they had a place to sit.

My Flow test and PCR are out of the way now and I dozed on the sofa this afternoon - just too sleepy to get much done! We are going to put some of the boxes up in the loft where DD's stuff was, in the hope of making DS2's room suitable for auntie to stay next week. At least there is less to go up than there was even a week ago.

It has changed. It used to be OK and now it's more like an  "itsy bitsy teeny weeny in the corner of my screeny" thing. I made the mistake of trying to quote someone before. Lets just say that may not be quite ready to use yet 🤣

Testing, testing... :) Seems to be working. :) It may depend on whether you are using laptop, tablet or phone I suppose.

The boxes are up in the loft and DH realised we could put more up tomorrow as I'm off work. I don't think he's looked at the calendar because I've just thought I'm on an early on Friday so still more could go up that evening if I'm organised.

This is disproportionately useful in tidying the kids' bedrooms. Nothing that's gone in the loft is big but small boxes are quite cluttering. DS2's room is still pretty much as it was the day a twister came down our street (yes, really - but we were out) and threw all the boys' paper at the far wall. DD's room is better because things had been dumped in there a while and there are now two plastic crates stacked under the window but at least you can see what's going on in that area. While pulling things out and putting them back I found some wicker baskets - the sort lined with fabric - from Mum's house. I've emptied them as they weren't used for anything permanent. Tomorrow I'll wash the liners then use them to store craft projects which at the moment are wanting better storage.

Nothing spent today. An evening at an online church meeting then watching the Sewing Bee. Tomorrow's the last of my four days off. I checked my work email and haven't yet had my leave granted for the end of this month, which is when I'd planned to have one more onslaught on the old house. There's a bit of time yet.

I'm thankful for a lazy day, seeing all the familiar faces on Zoom, finding baskets that match the decor for free and DH being able to have a friend round.

Today I am not getting much done.

DH finishes works in a hour so we might go for a walk in which case I will take my friend and her husband some cake as their share from Tuesday's get-together. I don't really know why she's stopped coming but I do know they have some health concerns and when DH and I bumped into them a while ago they seemed very open and happy to chat.

I've tidied a bit in DS2's room, making use of the shelving that's moved to DD's room from the old house for various files that either my parents or I have started from time to time. Not sure quite what's in some of them but I do know that there will now be receipts I can throw out from when I had Power of Attorney for my Mum. The thing about keeping them seems a bit odd as most receipts are unreadable after a few years.

I know I should probably have kept proper accounts but I honestly don't know how and I suspect I've not been up to it mentally: I'm the sort of person who thinks I'll remember, too! Never a wise presumption.

The car has come through the MOT with immediate costs of £52 (always good to hear!) though we need to do something with a front tire or two (DH's department).
