My new Fit bit strap arrived and fits well, and I took back some yarn that I decided against using and had a refund of £4.10. There wasn't time to do much more before work on Thursday, but on Friday I was going to buy more storage boxes but decided I could repurpose a couple so I didn't go out apart from work. I did spend 0.99 on a kindle recipe book (thanks for the recommendation SA
).
I've been clearing a few of the heaped up storage boxes from DD's old room and moving them to DS2's old room so I can get DD's in order. I made some progress this morning before work so there's the beginnings of an orderly stack next to the bookcase. My latest find, in a little box that I thought was my Grandfather's leaflets from the wartime RAF, has been a lot of civilian wartime leaflets - I didn't realise there was advice to keep the bath half filled with water in case drinking water was polluted during air raids. There will be other interesting stuff but I mustn't stop to read too much just yet!
DD has had a birthday which she spent out walking with her partner: we are meeting up with them on Sunday which I'm really looking forward to.
I haven't got much done on my course between work and tidying over the last few days.
Things I'm thankful for: DD and her birthday, a really good night's sleep last night, managing to stay off the chocolate biscuits for a couple of days and for visible progress with the huge amount of paperwork inherited from my parents!I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

I didn't get the best night's sleep last night, so I'm hoping for an early-for me sleep tonight, especially as I've an early shift tomorrow then a couple of nights away working on the old house, and the bed there isn't comfy. Clearing the house is weighing me down so this morning I did some work on the debris I've already brought here. I think it was 32 pieces of paper binned, and various other things sorted into boxes of letters, photos etc. It was interesting to find my Dad's Matriculation certificates from way back before the war and I'll keep them but I'm not sure how as there isn't much wall space (DH's hobby is buying pictures) and they are too big for modern filing.
I popped into town for storage boxes (£11.97), yogurt and raspberries (£2.30) and apart from that I've been at work. Really looking forward to seeing J and L, A and H tomorrow for a family walk.
And I'm thankful for... dandelions. They are such a wonderful colour.

Sorry to be AWOL, I've been over at the old house for a couple of days. Before that I worked the early shift on Sunday then went over to J and L's new house for the afternoon. DS2 was working but H and A were there so we all went on a walk then sat in the garden with hot drinks and coats till it began to snow! In the interests of safe meeting we then went into the summer house with the door open and snow blowing in, but we are quite a hardy lot and had a wonderful four hours. It's amazing how nice it is to have ordinary time with family once again.
It didn't feel as though I got much done at the old house as most of it was sorting through yet more papers - 678 paper decisions were made! I've brought home more to work through as well. I also boxed over 30 ornaments to go to charity but they are still waiting as DH couldn't find a shop ready to accept more.
We also had a long walk to a local viewing point so I got in 20,000 steps yesterday, and I dug up some flowers to bring back here including some of the primroses my Mum had from her best friend who lived in Cornwall and who died about sixty years ago.
I spent £2.50 on extra data though on the first day I totally lost internet access. Partly because of this I've pushed on with my latest knitting project and now just have to sew it up. I also found a cute pattern for a tiny knitted toy cat in a 1964 magazine, so that's next to make.
I'm grateful for the flowers I've salvaged, a good walk and being able to bring home a couple of 1950s china cups that are very pretty even though we don't really have space for them.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

I am so behind on my diary! I've been working. Granted not 24/7, but I'm always too tired to catch up.
Some brief notes before I forget totally:
I got Costalots under the 50th birthday offer - so 2 for £1. It was a really lovely feeling to present one to DH (who was slaving over his work phone) and take the other to work with me.
I then got a takeaway coffee and cookies (£5.30?) with a friend to complete our walk the following day. And very nice they were too.
I posted off the wristband I found last week and it's now arrived. I think that was £1.20.
I downloaded a book for myself for £1.99, and have bought a book (£15.95?), some snacks and some fizzy drinks (£4.77) for A's birthday tomorrow, though his 'real' present is to be a donation to a charity.
I completed the knitting project and will hopefully remember to pass it on to its new owner tomorrow. I'm now knitting a tiny cat... because I want to. The wool cost £6 and I must remember to add it to my 'Fashion on the Ration' total. There is far more than the pattern needs but I kind of fell for sales blurb and a very good price for yarn I have no definite plans for.
I've been grocery shopping two or three times, somehow. £10.30 or so the first time, not sure about the next one, then £5.41 today. I've also shelled out £1 for an offer on PC security which I must make a decision about before it rolls over to an annual payment.
All this money stuff obscures the real stuff, which is about glorious spring weather that's warming up at last. That's one of my 'thank you's' today, as are takeaway coffees, white blossom glowing in the dusk and the ability to meet more people outside again.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. When we finally get back to normal, I need to make sure that a take away coffee maintains its occasional treat status rather than becoming a costly habit.Mortgage at 01.01.14 £119,481.83:eek: today £0 Emergency fund £5.5/5.5k & £200/200 cash.:jWeight 24/02/19 14st 7lb now 12st determined to stop defining myself by my mistakes. I nearly swerved into a Starbucks today after a girl came out the door carrying something that smelled delicious, I had to fight the urge to tap her on the shoulder and ask what it was 😀. Im with you on the tiredness front due to work,I was exhausted on Sunday but seem to have rallied today for some reason 😀 we also have beautiful weather here today so I've got all the windows open and I've washed all the pet bedsOriginal Debt Owed Jan 18 = £17,630 Paid To Date = £6,510 Owed = £11,1203

We've had really beautiful weather here today - and spent the afternoon soaking up the sun in A and H's garden for his birthday! What a lovely way to spend an afternoon off! Later in the day L, J and DS2 went round to see theirs for a takeaway and DS2 called to see us on the way home. I don't think we've seen him since Christmas so it was extra-special. He also brought my belated birthday present and we've arranged to meet up for a walk as he has some time off.
When we got home I braved the garden - where to start?! I've refilled the bird feeders, cut out some dead foliage (the late frosts have nipped some early growth) and done some pruning. I'm glad of what I did a few weeks ago as it's paying off now.
I haven't been spending today so there's nothing of that sort to report though tomorrow I'll put through the charity donation A asked for as a present.
And tonight I'm thankful for family, beautiful weather and time off.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)
