I've been at work for the last few days (not all the time but I haven't done much else). Today was an extra shift and I'm humming and ha-ing about whether to take on an extra that's going to be hard to fill.
Today we unexpectedly had three offers on my parent's old house, but the value of the offers has taken a nosedive since the status of the knotweed has been confirmed. Two of the current offers seem to be from developers but are really low. The other is from a private individual and is well under the asking price but above that of the developers so I'm thinking it might be a good move to agree to it. It will still leave us with an inheritance each as well as paying off the mortgage, but it's a bit difficult to change tack mentally.
We've also decided to make a gift to J and L towards some work on their new place as we did similar for the others when they bought a house.
These potential changes in expected finances are possibly what's making me think of taking on the extra shift, though it will make very little difference! Someone has to cover it and I could make use of the money one way or another - but do I want to lose that day off? Will I get enough rest that week?
I don't have to decide right now. Today has been a lovely day, weather wise: 17 degrees and idyllic. DH and I went for an afternoon walk to a village a few miles away where I'd never been. It was wonderful: almost completely deserted - one dog walker, several pheasants and a lot of sheep - a lovely country churchyard full of daffodils, blue sky above and a bit too warm for me in my long-sleeved top! I told my friends about it in our video call this evening and it turns out one of them knows it well and recommended a tea shop, so I think we'll be meeting up there once it's again possible.
This evening I'm thankful for progress on the house, a change in shift than probably means we can have a walk with J and L, a glorious new place to walk and warm spring weather to be out in.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

There were a lot of butterflies as well as a lot of sun and a lot of daffodils!
Today has been up to 19 degrees! I know it's supposed to be cold again soon but for today, it's been gorgeous.
I've divided my day off between language apps and shopping. I didn't have a lot of heart for going out but I'd promised myself a bum bag for work (keys, phone) and I knew I'd regret it if I didn't get one. Then there were none to be found so I got the groceries (not a main shop but I had a voucher towards dried fruit and veg that expires today, and saved a couple of pounds) and treated myself to a golden raspberry plant. DS1 sent photos of some of his seedlings: I'm delighted to have a fellow enthusiast!
I've got a bum bag for all of £2.79 on 3bay, but at least I got 10,000 steps and a raspberry plant while looking for one!
I've texted my sister and I think we will probably accept one of the house offers, though I will try to get a bit of an increase first.
I forgot to say yesterday that I had my second Covid vaccine (so far so good) and also some higher management sent a delivery of posh chocolates for our team.
Spending
Clothing £2.79
Gift £3.99
Garden £3.00
Household (small spray paint for microwave) £4.00
Housekeeping £18.03
And things I'm thankful for: fab weather, vaccination completed, raspberry plant, chocolate.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

What a lovely photo, I love butterflies 🦋
Good news about the offers on the house. It’s a shame they’re on the low side but if you could squeeze a bit more out from one of them it might be worthwhile because of the knotweed situation.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)2 -
We've sent a message to ask if there's a possibility of the bidder upping their offer, but haven't heard back yet.
This morning we had online church for Good Friday. I meant to go to the Zoom service from the centre of town that's run by a group of local churches, but lost track of time. It's the first time I've missed it in years. Apart from that and some housework, I've fed the plants and done some more language practise, and watched a Ted talk on autism which was so interesting that I've forwarded it to various colleagues. As we work with people with autism I kind of had an excuse for the spam, but I'm not sure it will get watched!
I now have a weekend off! Yesterday and today were work days for me, with a total of half an hour's overtime though I've put my name down for a couple of extra shifts later in the month. I've also sent in my March timesheet. There's not a huge amount on it but this month's pay is looking healthy as January and February's extras have come through.
DH now has a share dealing app of some sort and I'm tempted to one as I know DS2 did well when he bought shares. However, I also know my Mum got caught by the Icelandic banks fiasco and must have lost a lot of the value of her shares, though I don't know how much.
Things I'm thankful for tonight: my plants looking more interested in their surroundings since feeding has recommenced. Some useful insights from the Ted talk. Using up various ingredients to make a spiced bread pudding for this lunchtime.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)
