A relatively short entry today after yesterday's ramble! I was short of sleep, probably because I can't entirely relax over the house for sale. However I went back to bed mid morning and felt a bit brighter by lunch, though full of cold again. DH thinks it's an allergy.
The house has had its first viewing but no news so I expect it was just a curious person.
I found three tops and a jacket to go to the CS (and later found a whole bag of stuff after DH had taken them) and I've taken a large book back to a colleague, so we have a tiny bit more space.
Work was quiet but relaxed: it's difficult when it's like this for too long but nice for the odd evening. :)
    I've spent £1.99 on another e-book.

This evening I'm thankful for NSAIDs - it feels as though that's what's keeping me breathing as I can't take decongestants! Also for being able to rest this morning when I needed it.

It's been a positive day after an excellent night's sleep. :)

It occurred to me to check the side effects of the medication I've been using for the cold and to my surprise discovered that some people sneeze more when on the nasal spray! I've stopped the spray and, while still sneezing, feel generally better than yesterday. All I've had for it today has been a couple of paracetamols just now so that I won't snore and disturb DH!

DH had a phone appointment with a specialist who he's seen a few times. DH has two conditions and this was to do with the second one. Cause remains unknown but it's been stable with a slight improvement over the last few months and is nowhere near needing chronic intervention, so it's going to be a case of 'keeping an eye on it' and another phone call in a couple of months. He's also suggested things to chat through with the consultant for condition 1, who wants DH to try a different drug related to two others that DH tried but which made him ill and left what seem to be permanent side effects. Following today's talk we know that there's nothing from condition 2 to stop him continuing the medication that's worked so well for so long for condition 1.

I had a chat with DH about the upset I'd had over my sister the other day, and with his help sent her a message explaining how I felt. I had the nicest reply! I feel a lot better about it now but haven't had time to sit down and digest it properly. I just sent her a quick thank you note explaining that I was at work but would reply properly, but she's going to be offline for a while as she's travelling.

Just before I went to work (while I was still recovering from a huge healthy salad I'd made for lunch) we had a phone call from the estate agent to say they'd completed the pdf of the house ready to put out and would we give them feedback. Again, there's not been time to sit down and do that but the photos show the house under a perfect blue sky - lovely! I then had all of five minutes to get myself out of the door so I grabbed a tin of macaroni cheese for tea - so much for healthy eating. :disappointed:

Work was quiet again - I think I've just about got the new PPE room in order. I've not seen so much plastic since we used to take the kids toy shopping. :( I'm quite pleased with the result though.

One way or another, I now have five days off - three next week that were mine anyway, Sunday when I'd already booked annual leave and Saturday as my workplace is closed so I'll be working another day instead. Memo to self - make Christmas Cake and soup!

    Nothing spent.

So tonight I'm thankful for all of the above: DH's good health report, positive communication with my sister, days off. :)

Christmas cake is still theoretical... :)

What a wet day it's been! And it's still pouring in the middle of the night. However, we've been to a wedding! A couple at church got married and sent a general invitation to join the livestream. I did wonder if I ought to get dressed up for it but in the end it was jeans and shirt. However, it was a lovely service and I'm so pleased we saw them wed.

L has been very busy: I'd seen him out doing training runs but hadn't realised how good he's got. Today he did a marathon! J had been training for it to raise money for charity but hers is officially postponed till next year whereas L, as her trainer, has ploughed on. Extra kudos to him for braving the weather!

In the afternoon I did another largish grocery shop: it included lots of cheap chocolate oranges ready for Christmas time and some chocolate and wine for DH's birthday, as well as a lot of fruit and veg. I can't find the receipt for now but it was about £41 in total, with about £7 spent on chocolate, £6 on wine, £2 on an alternative for H who doesn't like the chocolate. There was also birthday breakfast food (croissants, pain au chocolat and a couple of fruit juices). J, A and H are coming to tea on the birthday so the rest of the food will be bought on the day.

Yes, it's been expensive but I know I'm buying those things anyway and with all the warnings about shopping early as online will be busy, I'm glad to have those sorted. I also bought ingredients for soup and made that this evening so I have some hot meals to take to work. I've had to edge the containers carefully into the freezer as we're down to the last few plastic boxes and those we have left have lids that don't fit! If they can freeze level that's not a problem. :disappointed:

Tonight I'm thankful for being able to be indoors when it's so soggy out, for a beautiful wedding, for soup in readiness for cold evenings.

    Spending from 3rd:
    Gifts £16.25
    Housekeeping £28.20

Today started with a clear blue sunny sky! It was completely unexpected after I'd gone to bed at some ridiculous hour to the sound of heavy rain, but I'm not complaining.

I didn't sleep well: I woke up worrying about the stuff that's still to do at Mum's old house, but it was daylight outside so I got up and played on my phone for a while. We then set off for a day out near where DS2 lives: we've been to his house now and met his flatmate (he's been there since March 24th!) and (importantly) her rabbit. :) We then went to a favourite café for lunch: this was supposed to be us treating DS2 but he insisted on us paying which was lovely of him. Needless to say despite my best efforts I've eaten more calories than I burnt off, but I did have something that was healthy as well as a treat, and when I went to chose a cake for afters my head kicked in and decided it wasn't worth the cost in calories.

DH and I spent the afternoon in an art gallery (his pre-birthday treat) and I bought some greetings cards in the shop. We then meandered back to the car and to say goodbye to DS2, via some excellent second hand bookshops. I bought myself a book and another for a gift for someone, so spending has happened but it was low-key and I'm making myself buy things early so I can avoid too much of the Christmas crush. I tell myself I know I'm going to buy certain things and I may as well get them now if they are at a reasonable price.

The evening was spent in front of the TV: I'm afraid I dozed off during online church, oops. I don't think I missed much but I'm definitely more with it in the morning. Consequently I'm awake now but DH's presents are wrapped and the breakfast things are there for the morning.

    Spending on 4th:
    Gifts and cards £4.25
    Book £3.50

And I'm thankful for quality time with DS2 and DH, the gift of a lovely meal, sunshine and a book that I think I'll find helpful. Oh, and an understanding DH who knows the dining room will still be a mess on his birthday but knows I'm not good at keeping on top of all my projects.

DH's birthday has got off to a good start. :) All the kids and their other halves have sent messages and his sister's rung. A neighbour who didn't know it's his birthday has called in with two carriers full of cooking apples (I can never believe how people can just waste all the apples they get for free off their trees - as the neighbour pointed out, properly stored they can last till spring. Not round here though as DH will get through any we don't pass on to our children!) DH eventually got to sit down long enough to open his gifts from me.

I'm intending to go out for a short run then bake DH's cake, and if the weather holds we'll go out locally later and make use of our English Heritage membership. I've not run for over a week so I need to break myself back in.

Good news in that my weight seems to be going down. I thought the scales were wrong but they told me twice. I'm prepared that it may average out it there's some mistake.

Another small MS move was me getting impatient with my hair and trimming it yesterday. Only a little bit but it feels neater and cost nothing.

I think Dh has had a lovely time. I spent £13.32 on groceries but we have loads left so I need to be good and use it well.

Tonight I'm thankful for DH, for a really nice birthday and for getting so many of the children together at ours. We've even had some quality time with the ones who had to be at work this evening. :)

Glad DH enjoyed his birthday 🥳 I’ve not run for a week either, starting to get out of the habit unfortunately now the mornings are dark. It’s surprising how you soon get back into it though.

Yes, I've not had any exercise today and I'm looking forward to running tomorrow. I just hope I feel the same in the morning!

Dh has been to see the auctioneer to sell the furniture from DFiL's flat today: they are really getting quite close to being able to rent it out! He's also got a job interview, and spoken to Auntie to ask her over for Christmas, so a very productive day for him.

I did a small amount of clearing and cleaning but I've spent too much time online and given myself a headache. I had a phone call from the dentist to rearrange my appointment (cancelled in June) and booked for tomorrow, then thought twice of it and cancelled. I don't entirely trust this dentist - he does extra hygiene procedures without asking so I made it clear in advance that I didn't want one, but then asked myself why I was paying over the odds to someone I don't really trust. (I'm not the only one, a work colleague had the same experience but he actually cancelled the appointment she had booked with the hygienist!) After chatting with DH I decided that I'll try to sign on at the practice he goes to, which is a lot cheaper.

I was supposed to go to work briefly as we're all on a Covid testing programme as of this week, but it's going to have to wait for the strangest of reasons: as I was getting ready to go, a message flashed up n my phone saying I'd been near someone who had tested positive. Of course I wanted to know more but the message was nowhere to be found when I opened the phone. I went into the NHS app and looked at the help page and it seems from what I read that some people gets these vanishing messages and unless you can find a copy in the app, you just ignore them. I think the way it was described is that it's just the app telling you it's working.

Anyway that made me to late to get tested today. There have also been texts to rearrange shifts while we have no clients in, but that's okay as I get more weekend time free.

I have messaged a reply to my sister and had a phone call with the estate agent to tighten up some details on the brochure about the house, and this evening had my video chat with my friends that we haven't been able to have for some weeks. I think we'll try to meet for coffee next week if we can: we are in an area of moderate risk not under lockdown and I will have had a Covid test since I last socialised.

Nothing spent today. I made a 'chicken and...' pie with yesterday's leftovers (still plenty of chicken left) and we had baked apple with mincemeat for pudding - very autumnal, talking of which the leaves are going gold on our birch tree and I heard on the radio that it may well be a very colourful autumn.

Tonight I'm thankful for getting a couple of 'frogs' out of the way, time with my friends and another funny lockdown video to end the day with laughter.
