The Hadrian’s wall walk sounds amazing!

Sounds like you've had a lovely time away.
Shame about the interview but at least he now knows he can make it to interview and will boost his confidence.

Glad you had a nice time away. How interesting finding the old magazines, they will be fun to look through 😊 I'm in denial about Christmas and I'm wondering if after jokily saying that Christmas is cancelled this year for the last ten years I will actually be saying it for real this year
We have already been told by our trust that Christmas parties are not allowed this year because we would be setting a bad example to members of the public 🙀

I’ve still got an old magazine from 1972 and love looking at it. I remember my mum saying it was too old for me at the time 🤣
What a shame about the interview for DH, pity they couldn’t be more accommodating. Good that he got through though.Glad you had a lovely time away.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)3 -

but we'll find a way to celebrate somehow, even if it's a quarantined Secret Santa!
Today I've been a bit under the weather again, which I didn't understand until DH said he thought I was stressed. That makes sense as I hate doing the visits to the house, the news is depressing and I'm tired too. However it's been nice weather (again!) and we walked into town for some shopping. We've asked H and A to diner tomorrow so we needed some ingredients, DH needed new slippers as he left a pair at the old house and I needed some sewing things. This evening it's got quite cool so I'm looking forward to catching up on James Herriot and maybe making a bit more progress on my latest course (it's from Italy and some bits have suffered a little in translation so I'm having to do some extra work to be sure I've understood).
Spending:
Housekeeping £24.??
Household/hobbies (thread for mending £3.50 and wool for a knitted project £2.25) £5.75
Clothing (DH's slippers) £12.00
Today I'm thankful for a nice walk into town, the sunny weather holding and getting the laundry all done. Also for my hanging baskets reviving despite having collapsed before we went away!

To be honest I don't go to the main Christmas party any more,us older HCAs usually go out for a meal somewhere and leave the partying to the youngsters 😀mind you the younger HCAs usually join us for our meal as well 😊
I hope you are not coming down with a lurgy, maybe some rest and relaxation is in orderOriginal Debt Owed Jan 18 = £17,630 Paid To Date = £6,510 Owed = £11,1203 -
LOL, I'm not much of a one for the office party either - but some of my colleagues are great company over a curry.
I think it is a bit of a lurgy - tiredness, stuffed sinuses, slightly-not-right tummy. Never mind. I'm probably going to be 100% by the time I go back to work!
I haven't helped things by doing some sewing. It's only a mend on a jumper of DH's and I'm rather proud of how it's going, but it isn't helping the eye strain.
I bought wool to repair an old jumper I found at Mum's but in the daylight (as opposed to the shop light) it's not a perfect match so I'm wondering whether to take it back. The mends are mostly underarm so I'm not sure how much is would show - but it would look really odd if it showed at all.
Now I need to make a decision on dinner - we have all the things to make it, and H and A are invited, but should I be cooking for them if I'm not 100%? Mind you I used to cook for people at work when I was full of much worse colds - constant hand washing is key! So perhaps I just need to get my act together.

Yesterday I let myself get drawn into bathroom cleaning, having given DH strict instructions that Sunday is a day of rest and minimal work was to be done! I always feel better having guests if the bathroom is immaculate.
H and A came round and we had a lovely evening. It's been so long since they've been here though we've met in their garden a few times. H has given me a couple of runner's headbands ready for winter weather. They are slightly tight (my head's on the large side!) but I think I have worked out how to loosen them slightly without spoiling them.
I made the 'Persian chicken' recipe that DH and I liked (I'm not so sure about H and A so I'll make a mental note not to give it to them again) and I went way over my calories between that, the chip shop, the hotel meals and cheesecake for dessert, but I've only gained half a pound over the week, some of which is going to be muscle from all the walking. So I'm not despairing.
DH is on the phone to a letting agent: DFiL's flat is still on the market and they just aren't shifting so he's thinking on renting it out. Added to which my parents' house should be on the market very soon - what changing times!

Another warm, sunny day.
L borrowed the lawn again... I did a bit of harvesting: four tiny potatoes so far!
Also another crop of blackberries: not so many now, but nice ones.
DH and I went for a walk this afternoon, up along the running route that I used earlier in the year before it became too popular with everyone else, and down my old favourite running route, though we walked. Far too warm to run!
DH has had some (free) legal advice and it looks as though the DFiL's flat can be let out, if all the beneficiaries of the will are in agreement.
DH and I also went to the shops this afternoon and came back with a new laptop to replace the old one from DFiL. DH had done the research, I hasten to add, and found a gift voucher with £7.01 left on, to put towards it! I also got nectar points and used my credit card so there should be about 40p in loyalty points there. As the whole thing came to a little over £322, these little savings aren't going to make all that much difference but it's nice to know!
Incidentally, the laptop I usually use is getting slower and slower so we may be down to one again in the not-too-distant.
I made homemade pizza for tea - haven't done that since goodness knows when. DS1 makes super pizzas nowadays, but we just get ours from the supermarket, and I've only just discovered DH loves them! They cost so little that I should do them quite often.
I'm feeling a lot more energetic today, the nasal spray has temporarily cured the sinuses and my tummy is back to its usual robust self. DH seems to be following about a day behind, but he isn't really communicating about it so I naturally suspect he isn't 100%.
Things I'm thankful for: another warm, sunny day. An article on the radio about things to do to keep our spirits up in the winter. More blackberries (and some potatoes) from the garden. Seeing L today and H and A yesterday. New computer.

I am sorry you guys are heading into winter
We have just come out of it. Not to discourage you, but it was HORRID. So cold. So boring. I don't think it was a particularly bad winter (weather-wise) but the current state of affairs made it awful. Every single weekend was miserable/raining/windy so it was impossible to go out to get any sunshine or outdoor exercise. You probably have proper heating so you won't hate it as much as I did (hopefully). I would advise you to embrace all the good aspects of winter such as slow cooker meals, baking (weight loss be damned), fluffy blankets, watching movies, wearing the most comfortable clothing possible, etc.
