Glad you're on the mend.
It isn't as cold today here either
Happy New phone day“Once you hit rock bottom, that's where you perfectly stand; That's your chance of restarting, but restarting the way.”0 -
Taking the washing out set off my coughing so DH bought the food. He did the hoovering too! I don't think chocolate spread sandwiches count as a decent lunch... I had tuna or cheese but just didn't really fancy either. Must do better tomorrow.
However I have made inroads into setting up the phone, and in the process had to dig out an old phone account where I had some cool apps. I haven't dug as far as the apps yet but did come across a whole host of receipts for downloads by DS2. I had known they existed but not how many there were... perhaps about 50? They start off as freebies then progress through individual songs under a pound and a couple of slightly larger items. I sent him a photo of the evidence! These go back years and must have stopped when he was about 16 and he came and told me he'd been buying some paid-for items. I must have given him initial permission but it was clearly a slippery slope! I told him I'll let him off the bill if he helps me set the new phone up.
Sadly, I think I will have narrowly lost the photos I was paying to store: I realised they were on an old debit card which expired a couple of months ago.I had thought they were paid on a standing order. So close! There may be a few on the very old phone, as I'd kept it for the music I had on it.
Ah well... I can't remember what they were so maybe I won't miss them.
Never was organised.
However, today I'm thankful for a sunny day, a new phone and feeling better.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

I'm not sure who you where paying for photo storage but I do know g00gle reinstate the photos once you pay again.

Didn't get far with the phone yesterday but at least I managed to look up the bank statement and found the payments for photo storage seem to be going out even though the original order was made using a card that's now expired. I'm intending to charge up my very old phone and see if I can get it to talk.
I went for a walk to the far end of town where there's a BeeandEm, so that was exercise and some stocking fillers sorted, and a Santa hat for me to wear to work as that seems to go down well. I popped into the High Street for gifts and dehumidifiers, then to Mr T on the way home for other groceries. In the evening I wrapped a few presents. DD and I are thinking of going shopping again on Saturday, now that we have more idea of what people are wanting for Christmas.

I completely forgot an online order I made yesterday: a couple of people have added beeswax wraps to their 'wanted' lists and they're quite expensive so I ordered a DIY package of the ingredients and bought fabric locally. I would have liked to reuse fabric but I'm not sure how that would go down! Perhaps for my own use. So that's another £22.50 to add to the 'gift' budget.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

Nothing spent today: nothing much to report at all really apart from picking up a stray sleep in shift at work. Full staffing never lasts long, does it?

Today's been an early shift and one of those evenings when we get the house to ourselves, as DS2 has just gone to start a night shift. His registration has come through so he's now fully fledged (though we still don't know when he officially graduates).
I fell asleep after work so haven't done much else today: I do get to claim for an extra half hour worked last night, though.
I've made phone progress but annoyingly the new network already has my existing number so it looks as though there will be problems keeping it. I can't speak to customer services till the morning but that phone number is linked to so many things, it will be a real problem if I can't keep it, especially as it's the number my banking and so on use to text security checks, and the one the doctor and pharmacy have. Changing for work purposes is the easy bit. I have also been locked out of my account as I tried logging in on my very old phone so I could transfer some stuff across, and had a message that someone was trying to get access to my account from Manchester. As I'm a significant distance from Manchester I said it wasn't me - but it must have been. That one will take a few days to resolve apparently.
DH and I have started a small project to re-cover our dining chairs but it's not got far as we don't know where our staple gun has gone! If DS1 can't lend us one we'll have to get another, which I suppose is cheaper than buying new chairs. I've also made myself get up and wash the new fabric so I can make the beeswax wrappers when I get clear time (the weekend is largely claimed already).
We are making a little progress on the house though, as I've finally ordered our curtains for the lounge.
Spending:
Household £99.98

Decluttering:
None
I'm thankful for a little bit achieved: the house will be nicer with the curtains (we aren't too overlooked but it's cosier and probably warmer).I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

A quick round up, mostly to remind myself:
I've made various payments to the credit card so I think that's about straight. There are usually odd amounts not accounted for and this time it was a standing order for loo rolls which I get delivered in bulk. As the household has got smaller we've not needed more for ages but an order was finally made. Strictly that should go out of housekeeping but I can't juggle that (one of the reasons the housekeeping budget has fared well recently, I suppose). Kitchen paper and doorstep milk are the same - I don't pay cash for them. There's a small payback in that I don't have to nip to the shops for these items and be tempted to buy other things.
I remember someone having an ingenious system for averaging out these larger one-off payments, but I don't remember details.
The housekeeping float is still at £19.33 plus the £10 left from last week! However I think that's because I was too full of cold to go shopping and DH bought the things we needed. Maybe I should keep these 'extras' as a cash float for lean weeks? Smaller change could still go into savings.
There is quite a bit in the way of smaller coins so I'm adding a '10th coins' saving of 45p even though I haven't been out to the shops todayI think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

Today has been expensive, but DD and I had a lovely time eating far too many calories then wandering round looking at the shops, Christmas lights, Christmas market, more shops...
She drove and wouldn't take a contribution from me so transport costs for me were only the park & ride bus. We had a wonderful brunch that sustained us till we went home, DD treated me to a packet of cough sweets (:rotfl:) and I treated myself to an unnecessary sweatshirt that I know I will wear a lot. Other than that it was mostly present buying for me. DD has most of hers already but treated herself to a bag in TK M@xx.
Spending:
Transport £3.20
Clothing £12.00
Entertainment (brunch) £11.75
Household (Christmas decorations) £2.00
Medical £3.00
Gifts £30.47
DH had to get dinner for tomorrow so I gave him most of the remaining housekeeping money.
MS:
Remembered to take water so I didn't need to buy any - and drank up the freebie water that came with the meal.
Change from this week's housekeeping = 37p into savings
£2 coin into savings
After that lot there was still a 10th coin remaining in my purse (I think I mentioned I'd had a lot of small change!) so 2p into savings.
Decluttering:
I forgot yesterday but I took a neglected item from home into work where it's gone down well. About time it got some use!
Today I'm thankful for a lovely day with DD and both of us being recovered from our colds.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)
