Lazy mornings are needed sometimes, don't feel bad about that.

Hope you have a lovely day

Oops, lost the post I was making.

Snow on the ground when I woke up: I had an appointment to get to but it was more crunchy than slippery so that was okay. Afterwards I bought a cake box then went home and made a batch of muffins to go in it for H's birthday. She and A are off on their holidays tomorrow and this way she can take some of her cake at least part of the way.

    Spending:
    Gift £8.68
    ETA 3 e-books £2.97
    MS:
Found soups for two work meals when cleaning the freezer yesterday so that's those sorted.
Decided against new icing nozzles and made do with some I had
    10th coin savings 1p
    Decluttering:
28 items, mostly bits of paper.
    And I'm thankful for
H's birthday tomorrow and their holiday
Consequent extra bit of fridge space (though they don't use much)
A thick coat in cold weather.

Hope the snow has gone rather than turning slippy!

Hope you got some sleep too

It's been a really mild, beautiful day (especially noticeable after yesterday) but I was too tired after work to go out. I did remember, though, that we'd agreed to use up more freezer stuff so I found a pasta dish for DH and some curry for me, and added tinned tomatoes to both and sweet potato to mine: it was delicious.

Not so good news from work: my extended sick leave last summer means I'm not eligible for an increment. In better news, apparently I'm already at the top of the scale due to length of service, so I wouldn't have got one anyway. :D

A and H have set off on their travels, promising to send us photos. I have taken advantage of the temporary change in the household to spend the evening watching telly and knitting like a civilised person - the kitchen and dining room are still fairly neat from H's birthday breakfast this morning, which is also relaxing.

    Spending:
    Housekeeping £1.30
    MS:
    Feeding ourselves from the freezer
Milder weather reduces heating bills :)
    And I'm thankful for
    Curry
    Nice text message from H
    Real progress on the knitting
An inspiration about what to cook for someone at work.

I've caught up on some online ordering rather than risk missing the boat so there are three DVDs for my study group and the new suitcase I've promised myself.

DH and I had the second of our gifted trips to the cinema today - good to have a bit of time with him and unwind! Parking was £3 (DH paid). Afterwards we went to the massive supermarket nearby but managed not to go mad. I put a fiver towards the bill which means I still have a fiver of housekeeping left this week! That's amazing but part of it is because there are only three of us to Sunday dinner tomorrow so we're having pasta not a roast.

There really isn't a huge amount going on so I'll keep it short and sweet. :)

    Spending:
    Housekeeping £5.01
    DVDs (study) £4.74
    Travel £27.99
    MS:
Gift voucher paid for the cinema.
Washing best-part dried on the line.
    Decluttering:
Nothing today but six food items from the freezer in the last few days (I don't count things like fishfingers that we bought last week - freezer decluttering means the things I found in the depths, had no plan for and required a bit of creativity).
    I'm thankful for
DFiL looking well and more alert than he's done for a while.
    Time out with DH
Safe arrival of A and H in Delhi

I somehow developed what I think is sciatica last night: I've had exactly this years ago and that's what the doctor told me it was, though for me the pain seems to be in the hip joint. I know it probably originates in my back though. I didn't sleep brilliantly so I'm getting tired now but at least I'm mobile: dosed up on ibuprofen and taking little walks to keep moving.

I've been in all day but made a big batch of soup for work meals and sorted out some wool that was getting tangled. I might make more soup later as DH has got me a bag of sweet potatoes. We have a little extra freezer space for 2 weeks while A and H are away! :D

Sorry to hear about the pain, good idea to keep moving, don't seize up.

Glad A and H have arrived safely :)

I need to go on a decluttering mission. Currently trying to chip away at food that's been in the cupboard or freezer for far too long.

Thank you for the good wishes SA and HH. :) The sciatica was only really intrusive on Sunday so I was able to work yesterday and today has been a day off in which I stayed indoors (spent nothing) and did some cleaning and decluttering. I'm quite pleased with the progress made though only seven items gone (8 if you include the knitting project that I've now completed).

We don't have snow yet despite the weather forecast giving us a 90%+ chance of it. It's cold and grey, though. I shall get to bed soon as I've work tomorrow.

    Spending: (28/1/19)
    Housekeeping £6.23

I've just remembered I've not paid the extra on the mortgage and having checked yesterday I know there's £200 I can use towards it - DH and I having agreed to divide the unspent part of my wages between mortgage overpayment and savings. The savings part was transferred yesterday and tomorrow I must have a look to see if there have been any sundries going through that I didn't expect before allocating what's left.

I paid the CC yesterday as well, and transferred the latest train fare from the exec account to me, so I'm £60 better off than I was. :) That will go into savings once pay goes through at the end of this month.
