  • You sound like you got quite a lot done at your mum's old house Cherry. I wouldn't face the lonely country walk in the dark though .

Trains are a nightmare aren't they,my DD commute to uni and has endless problems with the trains

Food prices are definitely creeping up and I think will probably get worse with Brexit, supermarkets will use it as an excuse to put the prices up even if they don't have to

Some lovely baby news Cherry :)

Hope FIL perks up soon, he's in the best place, they'll get him up and running again.

You've made some great progress with your mum's things. When I had to clear out my mum's it was a nightmare, she had so much stuff, most of it junk. A lesson here that we should all keep the clutter down as much as we can.

    NSD.
Work was fairly uneventful: there are some shifts I could pick up but maybe not as I have a couple of extras in the near future due to training/meetings and I've got enough to do. Apparently they've been very short of staff over the last few days, and one of my colleagues today was supposed to be on leave but came in to help out.
DFiL is likely to be in hospital at least another week: they think his symptoms are due to a high temperature but even when that settles it could take a while for him to recover. So we're in a bit of a holding pattern.
I realised I've not posted my decluttering totals while away so here they are:
    15th - can't remember exactly but I think 5 items.
    16th - 13
    17th - 23
    18th - 7
    19th - 0
    20th - 2
    Total - 35
Total for 2019 so far: 151

    Thank you :).

I keep forgetting my things to be thankful for:

Kind builder who went above and beyond what he needed to do to on the house - and in the winter rain.
Saving the 1950s china that I think was a wedding present to my parents
Making my sister happy with some childhood recipes
    Kind people who give lifts
    Safe journeys despite everything
'Cranford' by Mrs Gaskell - the book is about the same age as the house and so funny... and small enough to hold in one hand while on a crowded train
The people who live in my phone :D

  • What an eventful trip! The half mile walk in the dark, after the train complications, sounds exhausting...I'd have been praying hard too!

Hope your FIL is feeling better soon.

I should be going up to bed by now. A quiet day for 'blue Monday' and not all that blue. We had daylight. Work was a bit difficult but I think a couple of things may be addressed as necessary that have previously been on hold so it could work out for good. I'm tired but I came home to find DS2 had a game up on the computer for me so I've been playing that. I've almost finished one of my knitting projects.
From here on the year gets better.
    Spending:
    Housekeeping £0.85
    Decluttering:
    Nah.
    And I'm thankful for:
All the above and DFiL is much more like his normal self today. (A went to see him, for which I'm also thankful).

Glad FIL is getting better, must be a weight lifted. Worrying isn't nice.

Hope you got a good nights sleep

I completely forgot to update yesterday!

    22/1/19
    Spending:
Housekeeping £12.29 (got a few store cupboard ingredients as well as chicken pies for dinner).
    23/1/19:
    Spending:
    Gift £2.96
    Housekeeping £10.24
    MS:
    10th coin savings 25p
Good old corned beef hash for tea - lovely! And plenty of potatoes left for other meals.

It was a lazy morning: I finished a game on the computer then sat around in pyjamas doing crochet and finishing my book, after which I had an attack of guilt and did some housework. Much to my surprise when I finally got out of doors to put the washing on the line, it was beautiful weather, though the frost lasted all day.
I've been to visit DFiL and I'm pleased to report he's looking a lot better though they are still keeping him in.
I'm happy about: DFiL looking so much more like himself
    Comfort food
    A sunny day
    Days off (and work)
