Hiya!
Great idea, really hope that you get the money you need for the kids.
Unfortunately I don't think I'm much help for cartridges as I use the cheap Canon copies you get in Poundland (DFW-style!), but my work have laser printer cartridges from time to time - I'll ask you if they're any good if I get hold of any!
Just an idea: is your list of acceptable cartridges far too long to be published in full on here? Would probably save you loads of time answering peoples questions about compatibility, and I'd keep an eye out for any scavenging I could do at friend's houses if I could check model numbers!
An ickle-panda-brained thought too: is it always profitable to send you individual cartridges for the money you can get for them? Only, while I don't grudge the money for postage at all, if you're not going to make substantially more than the £1.40 (or whatever 'packet' 2nd class is now) for a single cartridge, then I'd much rather just send you the £1.40 than line Royal Mail's pockets with it!!! (obviously if they're worth loads more than that then its well worth it and I'll shut up, but I think maybe different models have different 'used' values for recycling?)
I know you're absolutely not asking for money, but I'm too practical for my own good, which is why I'd rather hand over cash than waste it on stamps! Really, really sorry if that sounds negative at all, it isn't meant to be - what I'm basically saying is "can I just send £1.40 to your kids instead of spending it in the Post Office?"!!! I'm more than happy to Paypal a couple of quid towards your cause, and I'm sure loads of other people who can't help with cartridges would be too (so long as you're not offended by offers of petty amounts of cash!).
I fully, totally understand that you're not here begging for money, but I'd like to help, as I know how much you help people on here, so if I can contribute at all please let me know. Sorry again if I'm off on a tangent here - it's 3am!0 -
Hi pandapaws, the list is quite vast so not much good for posting on here, but I can pm a version to anyone who wants I should think.
They do have varying values, with prices up to £3. The people we are liaising with will pay us £2 or £3 for most of the cartridges we are collecting which is a pretty good amount, although some go for less than £1.
I completely get your point about the postage outweighing the value of the cartridges if you only send one so I have done the following "research" (if you can call it that at 5am!)
1 HP cartridge weighs 64g. This could be sent as a large letter, 2nd class for 40p.
For sending multiple cartridges, this would prob then need a packet rate, which would cost 92p min, again 2nd Class, so hanging on to the cartridge until you have 2 or 3 might be preferable for some?
Obviously I do not want people to incur unreasonable expense, but hopefully a second class large letter would suffice for those sending just one.
Of course if anyone would prefer, then of course they can send the stamp money instead. Please PM me for details, although I would hate for people to think that I am asking for money!
Thanks Pandapaws, and you didn't go off at a tangent - all pretty valid stuff there!
Have a good day x

Thanks, I'm glad you weren't annoyed at my comment - I re-read after I'd posted and was worried that it might look as though I was trying to pee on the bonfire which I absolutely wasn't!
That's great if most can go as large letter - they're obviously much smaller than the ones that I had in my old Lexmark printer which were quite big and square, hence I was thinking they'd have to go at that horrible new 'packet' rate which you know starts at over a quid. So I'm humbly pleased to be corrected!
Will PM you as promised and send on the amount that I would have spent on P&P if I had any cartridges to send! It won't be a lot but every penny helps and I'll look forward to seeing the panda sponsorship logo somewhere on the Hypno-kids when they're in the olympics!!!0 -
hypno, do a standard letter and send to all local businesses. many major business managers are welcome of any way to look good to head office per photo ops in local papers etc. think up ways you can get these stores involved eg, bag packing or sponsorship etc.
find out if these stores have charities eg, woolies has a kids charity.
definitely get in touch with the lottery sports grants before the olympics steals it all:love: married to the man of my dreams! 9-08-090 -
I am a new user but I do have some Lexmark Cartridges I am meant to send to them.
I get nothing back from Lexmark and if you can use them you can have them:I think I have 4.0 -

Keame, thank you very much for your offer. It won't let me send you a PM with my address!
Can you please send me a PM and I will reply with the details?
