Claiming PPI when I live outside the UK

Options
Hi all -

I made an enquiry about 12 months or so ago with one of the companies that offer no win no fee help claiming back PPI (I listen to talkSport and it was one that advertised on there) but was told that because I am not living in the UK at the moment (I live in Sweden and have for the past 6 years) that it would be too difficult to investigate any claim. I kind of thought what they meant was that it was a bit more complex or not as profitable for them, but as I hear there is now a deadline, I would like to see if there is any companies that would investigate for me on this basis.

I am not sure if I am owed anything, I suspect I may be from my younger years when I was trying to balance credit cards as a student and postgrad student.

SO, key question is, does anyone know if, although I am a UK citizen, living in Sweden would hinder any such claims? If not, do you know of any companies I could contact who may be able to help me try to see if I am owed anything.

Thank you in advance

Ian

There is no reason you couldn't send on your complaint to those lenders you had PPI with, with your mis sale reason.

The only reason to use a claims company would be if postage to the UK is prohibitively expensive, and you would rather they pay for the stamp, in return for half of any payout..
  • Thank you ZX81! Understand fully, only issue that I have is, I dont have specific details of products I paid for, I am just confident that I did have them probably 20 years ago or a little less when I was a student / postgrad. So, a follow up question would be, do I need specific details, or should I just send a general claim in without a product detail?

You'll need to know who you're sending your complaint to and what your reasons for complaint are.

If you can't recall the account number, then include as much detail as possible.

Neither will any claims co. they rely on you to provide those details to them, and then post your complaint for you. Very expensive stamp and envelope.

Do it yourself, statistically you have a better chance, but do you have any valid complaint reasons?
