I'm the Fleet Manager for a large local authority
We have a large number of vehicles on various types of lease, we are on the V5 as registered keeper, at the end of the lease the company arranges collection often by platers who drive the vehicle, trade plates in the window. ANPR cameras pick up speeding, vehicle SORNED not insured etc from the vehicle number plate, no human intervention.
I receive an NIP or similar, then have to prove we were no longer the registered keeper when the offence took place, easy option cover up the number plates0 -

If the players won't display their trade plates legally I would suggest removing the number plates0 -
Of course there's human intervention. A human looks at the picture & decides to issue a NIP, they don't know it's not yours any more until someone tells them.I'm the Fleet Manager for a large local authority

Tax and no insurance are not nip offences. They are not policed by anpr without a police officer stopping the vehicle.0 -

I definitely don't believe that to be the case and some ANPR systems will have no human intervention. Transporter going through Dartford for example will trigger penalties on any vehicle where reg is recorded automatically including cars on trailer.Billy_Bullocks wrote: »DVLA sites are manned and police sites pass the details out to patrols. It's not done automatically.Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.0 -

Surely there's a minimal chance that the car is taxed/insured, and if I was wanting to clone a car I would want to find one that was legal to be used on the road - it would be quicker/easier to cruise supermarket car parks to find a matching car which had MOT, VED, insurance.
In which case the most sensible option is that we all cover up our numberplates leaving the thieves having to guess numberplates at random and removing the risk of us being caught by ANPR/'Safety' Cameras0
