So you've said before. Do you have a recommendation for a brand that isn't complete and utter rubbish?

Just after some cheap and cheerful bulbs, not particularly that type unless it was cheaper than the second picture.

However, while the 60W (equiv) of those from Screwfix scares me a little for brightness, I have been looking on and off all afternoon and I can't beat that price by quite a long way.
They do have some 38W versions for £1 less per bulb so this may be an option.

Well, what you've posted is fine for the purpose of lighting. A single 60W equivalent is fine for a small bedroom or bathroom, but too much for a triple fitting. The 38W equivalent would be much better. Although you can get dimmable LEDs, IMO they never get as soft as old tungsten filament bulbs.

I doubt you'd have a problem exchanging them if you got the wrong ones.

Filament LEDs are great for solving the beam angle problem that tradition LEDs have - they usually point the light down, and very little up, in a ceiling light. May or may not be a problem, but if you're used to lighting the ceiling up, and the 'background' light that results from that, filaments will help.

I hate that dingy look you get when there is a shadow across the ceiling. I got rid of two lampshades for that reason.

I like the look of these filament LED bulbs, they are a good evolution from the normal LED types. I'm not sure what the lifespan of these LED filaments are, but the removal of the need for on-board power supply electronics is a big plus.

Just to come back to this.

Got some Diall 4w (40w equiv) candle bulbs (couldn't get the multipack but these were only a little bit more), which work great. Not too bright.

Shame they buzz ever so slightly but it shouldn't be a problem as I rarely have that light on with no noise coming from anything else.

My house is also full of them, and I've had no problems.
