  • Hello All,

I have just had a very similar problem to the original poster.

Today I received a Parking Charge Notice from Smart Parking. I drove into the car park to drop a friend off. I drove out a couple of mins later, went to a shop and came straight back to this car park. I sat for about 5 mins to pick up friend again, then drove out. The photos showed me only coming in and leaving once. Total time just over 12mins. Charge £100.

What is my best approach here? To claim just as what really happened; that I was drove in and out twice, or claim a grace period, being just over the 10 mins minimum?

    Any advice greatly appreciated!

    James.
  • I had PCN from smart parking even I have paid my parking fee. But they tried to rip me off then I had to appeal woth POPLA and won the case. This comny ripping people off and as they record in/out camera shot even you have no space to park. this SMART rip off company.

There are so many random posters joining in this thread with their own respective problems.

To all of them - please read the NEWBIES FAQ sticky which will provide you with guidance on how to deal with your case, and if after reading section 1 of it, if you have any further questions, please start a new thread of your own where we can give specific advice for your circumstances.

    Hi James,

You are asking in the wrong place and I already explained that to the other poster.

Every single post I make, tells newbies where to click...look at my signature and go to page one of this parking forum, read the top thread.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

    Hi all.

I have read the newbie post but im still a bit confused.

I have the same issue as previous poster except that Smart parking have sent letters threatening baliffs and court action.

I was not the driver as the car was sold and i have contacted dvla to check who was registered keeper at the date specified.

I wanted to ask so i write to SCS Law who have sent me the letter? Ring the Matalan or speak to the debt collector whose number is included in the letter.

In summary the charge is for over staying in a car park which i know nothing about. I ignored the letters as i knew it wasn't me. A similar letter has been sent to my ex for the same thing but two weeks apart. The only thing i can think off is this may be due to the registration process happening at the time. I will know for sure when i hear back from dvla.

Reading on the newbies section i have no correspondence to say i appealed or spoke to anyone. I can prove i was in another city where i live and was at work etc. Thsts no problem. Just need to know what to do as i ignored all previous correspondence.

Also baliffs did turn up at one of the addresses hence want to take action.

    Any help appreciated.
    Thank you for reading.
