Smart Parking fine Matalan Bury

Just need some advice please. I have received a parking charge notice from smart parking. I am the registered keeper of a car that was caught on their cameras parking for ten minutes outside matalan bury. The local matalan store where I reside has a free car park, the one in bury apparently does not. Unaware of this the car was left for ten minutes whilst going into matalan. Nothing was subsequently purchased from this store as it was decided to buy from the local store the following day( There are receipts for the purchase) Is it worth appealing?
I have tried Matalan who say they do not own the land and therefore cannot help.
I have read the FAQs but would like some confirmation that I should appeal.
No parking ticket was purchased but the stay was only for ten minutes and the fine is £85!!!!!!!!
Any advice would be appreciated

First - This is not a fine!
So start by reading the Newbies Sticky at the top of this forum carefully. This will inform you and lay-out the procedure to successfully challenge this.0 -
It is not a fine.
Appeal using the BPA template in blue you will find in the NEWBIES thread. Copy and paste and send without editing.
At the PoPLa stage you will use all the appeal points available in post 3 of the NEWBIES including grace periods which the BPA CoP says exceeds 10 minutes.
Not so Smart are easy to beat if you follow the tried and tested process outlined in the NEWBIES.I married my cousin. I had to...I don't have a sister. All my screwdrivers are cordless."You're Safety Is My Primary Concern Dear" - Laks0 -
Can you direct me to where the guidance talks about grace periods ( in excess of ten minutes) struggling to find that bit which is very relevant in this case.
Many thanks0 -

Great stuff, thanks for taking that leap of faith and for confirming this works, again. It helps to encourage NEWBIES to do the same.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

No idea where to find this newbie thread but I have had the exact same problem as the original poster in the exactly same place only mine was 22 minutes, and I did purchase things in store though I cannot prove it. I appealed to Smart Parking who have turned me down and now I am at the POPLA appeals process. the carpark was empty when i went and also the sign, as there is only 1, I dont think it good enough. Because I didnt see it neither did the original poster!! and the ticket payment machine is hidden away in a corner behind signs so how are you to know? any help would be great. I really dont want to have to pay all this money out to these skumbags.0
