HS2 has ruined my chances of owning a house

I have previously posted about why are housing prices in the north are so much cheaper than the south. My plan was to move up north. I have contacted estate agents who are based in the cities where HS2 will be traveling to and all the estate agents have said housing prices will rise greatly because of HS2. Therefore the north will be like the south, where housing is unattainable for most of the population.

How will the North be like the South? You clearly state you only contacted the towns/cities where HS2 stops which is up to Birmingham and then Manchester/Leeds. Not really that far North. Obviously it will increase prices, but I doubt it would be like the South.Anything I say in no way constitutes financial advice and anything you do is your own decision.0

I live in a council estate, I own my own flat. All the council housing in my area has life secure tenancies and have the right to buy. I think this is very unfair, you can pass your council housing to your partner, son or daughter. If you decide you want to buy, you can and safety in the knowledge that your council house is for life.

I live in Manchester, and haven't noticed any huge rise in house prices due to the non-imminent and still-potentially-cancellable arrival of HS2 ...:heartpuls Mrs Marleyboy :heartpuls

HS2 will directly affect my friend as it runs through his small town. There is talk of compensation being paid to homeowners due to the likely fall in property pricesIt may sometimes seem like I can't spell, I can, I just can't type0

I find it extraordinary that China decided on and built a 2000 mile high speed train line in half the time we have spent arguing about whether we need HS2.No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0

There have been lots of reports and documentaries on how Chinese people are forced to move to make way for dams and railways. You'd prefer it that way?0
