HS2 has ruined my chances of owning a house

There have been lots of reports and documentaries on how Chinese people are forced to move to make way for dams and railways. You'd prefer it that way?
China isn't really comparable but the rest of Europe has been building high speed rail networks while we have been twiddling our fingers.0 -

I would, I think it would be way more efficient for the country/economy. It's the same way about housing and the one opposing about Green Belt, must have this and that. Very few people seem to command over the rest.EU expat working in London0 -
I have previously posted about why are housing prices in the north are so much cheaper than the south. My plan was to move up north. I have contacted estate agents who are based in the cities where HS2 will be traveling to and all the estate agents have said housing prices will rise greatly because of HS2. Therefore the north will be like the south, where housing is unattainable for most of the population.
You need to raise your game at school/work. Try adopting a positive mind set- "if everyone else can do it, so can I". Man up.0 -

There's a lovely house in a country location just outside Aylesbury. Absolutely beautiful, quiet location. We saw it whilst out walking and stopped for a minute, admiring the tranquility. HS2 is due to go just next to the house, so I can sympathise with the owner.
Still, it's a bit like Brexit. A decision has to be made, and then we have to get on with implementation, whether we like it or not.No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -
HS2 will make house prices unaffordable in the entire North of England?
The North is a big place ...

Plenty of people and places in "The North" that won't be impacted one jot by HS2. House prices may rise in the commuter belt around the line, but further away will be no different at all.0

I find it extraordinary that China decided on and built a 2000 mile high speed train line in half the time we have spent arguing about whether we need HS2.
Worst thing is we'll be using yesterday's technology to build it and run yesterday's trains on it. It'll be out of date when it's built.
At least China are innovative and using tomorrow's technology.0
