Monzo have had the restrictions lifted from their interim banking licence and are now fully authorised and unrestricted. Current accounts are imminent, issued to their investors to begin with. The startup from which Monzo evolved, Starling, is slowly rolling out current accounts and is the newest full member of the Faster Payments scheme and Atom already take deposits for savings accounts. The fourth fintech challenger bank, Tandem, however, faltered this week and handed back its banking licence after failing to raise enough capital when their deal with the Chinese owners of House of Fraser fell through.
