  • BT Sport, previously included as a free extra, will now cost BT TV customers £3.50 a month or £42 for a yearly subscription from next season.( AUG 2017)
Its not compulsory to have it if you dont wish to avail yourself of it.

As I understand it, the £3.50 charge is for those customers who take the BT TV service. Those who have had free BT 'Lite' because they are BT broadband customers still in a contract will continue to receive it free of charge. At least that is what they told me when I rang regarding this after receiving their price increase email.

Seems rather odd that BT are charging those who take their full service but not those who don't take it at all.

That's backwards - they will do line rental for £10pm with no dialtone / voice service (so, data only) if you use them as your ISP, or you can keep your line rental with BT if you prefer to keep a voice service on the line as well.

So, I use A&A as my ISP and have my line rental with BT.

Sorry, I'm still struggling to understand this.

When you say they will do line rental, are you referring to what they call 'copper pair'?

If so, that is actually £12 per month, costs £60 for installation and they say:
We do not generally offer copper pairs without an associated broadband service.
So I assume you need to buy one of the broadband packages offered here:

e.g. The Home::1 tariff is specifically aimed at home users. It starts with ADSL and 150GB/month download for £35 (inc optional £10 for copper pair)...
[It seems these prices exclude VAT]
