I certainly welcome these proposals and maybe it will bring to an end the packaged phone/broadband deals. I am on BT landline, anytime calls and LRS (I DO use the phone for calls) and broadband with Sky.
Why aren't you on BT Home Phone Saver? This BT offer has line rental and unlimited anytime calls as well as caller display, voicemail and several other features for £21.99 per month. It is for people without BT broadband - either no broadband or broadband from a different supplier.

onomatopoe who are A&A that you refer to? £10 for data only is very tempting

I use them (been with them for about 17 years now) but they are a niche provider rather than mass market, as not many people are prepared to pay anything more than "bargain bucket" prices for broadband.

Will consider when my LRS expires next January.... they don't seem to advertise this product very much, but thanks for the poiner.

Yes. This offer is very well hidden on BT's website. Unlike BT Basic and it's stringent requirements, BT Home Phone Saver is simply open to anyone who does not have BT Broadband.

They did send letter out about this some years ago.

At the time it didn't not seam like a good deal. I don't recall unlimited calls being there at the start

Sorry, it's probably my misunderstanding, but I don't see anywhere on that page that suggests they will provide broadband only for £10 per month (whilst keeping phone line with BT)

There is this odd arrangemnt here that costs £10 per month

    But that says it:
allows people to use us as their ISP via another ISP.
Obviously not appropriate to the situation being asked about here.

That's backwards - they will do line rental for £10pm with no dialtone / voice service (so, data only) if you use them as your ISP, or you can keep your line rental with BT if you prefer to keep a voice service on the line as well.

So, I use A&A as my ISP and have my line rental with BT.

That will have to be price rises for the BT TV service not for line rental or for calls.

Watch for BT prices to rise as they announce £1.2BN footie deal .

BT Sport, previously included as a free extra, will now cost BT TV customers £3.50 a month or £42 for a yearly subscription from next season.( AUG 2017)
Its not compulsory to have it if you dont wish to avail yourself of it.
