Buyers coming round unannounced

Our buyers seem to think they can come around unannounced with tradesmen and blame the estate agents saying they didn't pass on the message. The estate agents say they had no knowledge.
I suppose I'm venting more than asking a question bc these people are not pleasant people to deal with anyway. They don't bother with 'hello' and yesterday they weren't even here (or were very late) when the tradesmen came knocking at the door.
Then when they did arrive (after the chap had left) they asked when we were moving out. Our solicitor has been doing his bit (we'd only just checked up on him) and communicated dates to their solicitor.
It just felt very intimidating - I say felt because it was their mannerism that was intimidating rather than what they said.
GRRRR...I hate this whole house buying/selling joke.

OP don't let them in. When people are rude to you, you need to take control of the situation.
Simply say to them that your other half is in the shower/bath/asleep or you are eating a meal ( depending on times ) and they should phone before coming round again and close the door on them. Do this twice and they will learn.I'm not cynical I'm realistic
(If a link I give opens pop ups I won't know I don't use windows)0 -
why would you make excuses? Just simply say get off my land or i will
1. beat you with a stick
2. phone the police
it is your house until the day of completion until then do not let anyone in it0 -
tradesmen to do what exactly check on stuff, or actually do something?
I'd be polite (as you dont want them backing off) but firmMoney, Money, Money ..... Banks/Casinos/Bookies give me all you money its a poor mans world....0 -
I would tell them that it's not convenient now, as you're just about to pop out, and tell them to go away and book an appointment through the estate agent, then phone the day before to confirm.
Be assertive and do NOT let them walk all over you!Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
hey - just answer the door in the nude
or with a small towel and say you and OH were in bed having a good time, pause for effect
If they continue to stand there say you going back to bed and that viewings can only be when arranged and accompanied by the estate agents.

I had a similar problem years ago with the people who bought our first house. They kept turning up, I stopped answering the door and then I caught them showing a selection of relatives around the garden!
The last straw was when I was off sick from work, sitting in the garden. The back fence and gate to the garden was only 4' high, because there was a private path that lead only to my garden and the one next door. They were all leaning over the back fence (the buyers, their parents and even their dog!) pointing out things in the garden, completely oblivious to me sitting on a chair with my lunch! So I took the opportunity to wander up to the gate and invite them in for a cup of tea. They beat a hasty retreat.
I should point out that I was off sick with chicken pox and I was at the scabby stage. I didn't see them again until moving day.
I hope you manage to get to your moving day without throttling someone!Mortgage Free as of 03/07/2017 :beer:0 -
offer to be available any time they want for a viewing fee0

Tell them that you don't want any tradesmen coming around to survey the property for future work whilst you are in posession of the property. It is your house.
These people are rude, and you're being far too polite.Errors of opinion may be tolerated where reason is left free to combat it. - Jefferson0 -

Next time (if there is one) I'm gonna say our toddler has the chicken pox/measles/whooping cough and that we are beginning to show symptoms too. In a way I hope they DO come round again - just to scare them
:D:D
I'm being too polite - well, yes, I was but within reason I like to be a nice person. At first I didn't realise they were lying and taking advantage.
Now is the point where I stop being nice!"Finish each day And be done with it.
