I'm guessing the OP got a message offering some tips about avoiding a debt given the person won't provide the information in public.

For what it's worth the OP's partner can't escape the debt as they are paying it off so the 6 year statute barred rule won't apply and the debt has been accepted as valid

Yes, I realise there are a few unscrupulous users who send messages of "support" to (new) posters, eventually in exchange for a fee of course.

Anyone receiving such messages should ignore them or report them to MSE.
