Morning everone, thanks to nmlc for starting the thread and hugs to anyone that needs or wanrs one.
After all the foul weather the sun is shining though it's very cold with ice on the window. Still much better than the rain and wind. Definitely hope to get my wheels aired today as I have a letter to post.
Son returns from Prague tonight but heads back to Newcastle tomorrow so it will be a quick catch as I imagine he'll need an early night after all the beer!
Payday tomorrow unfortunately my last full pay so lots of belt tightening going on and I need to sort out an online shop as my fresh stocks and pooch supplies are getting low.
Hope everyone has a good day x0 -

Good morning, thanks for the new thread nmlc. Raining here and I'm feeling cold, probably because I challenged my digestive system a little yesterday:(
Yesterday I managed to cross off a lot of items from my to do list:D and got OH making a huge sticky date cake - under instruction and with a little help, I doubt that he will ever try to bake if I pop off first, but I really wanted him to be aware of how awkward it can be for me with such painful hands, I think it was also a bit of a diversion for him from some worrying stuff, it has yet to be sampled (by him I am GF), but it smells lovely.
Nothing planned for today yet, plenty needs doing here, including a meal plan for this week, load of washing to be dried on airers:( and de-hairing the carpet, love you really Miss Border Collie:rotfl:
Have a good day folks:DThe best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. (Abraham Lincoln)0 -
Good morning everyone and a bit of a breezy one at the moment The big tree at the bottom of my garden is blowing away quite fiercely.
Bit of pottering around to do today nothing very exciting.I shall have a root around the freezer to see what I can unearth for tonight's dinner and lunch will be salady bits and pieces, or maybe a mushroom omelette.
Still working down my freezer at the moment, I swear stuff is multiplying in there.Definitely going to try only to buy strict essentials this coming month in the hope of using up what I already have in store .
Pancake day on Tuesday so I will be making them for my DGS for when they come home from school.
I have a nice little bit of cash to go into my holiday fund left over from February's food budget purse which will swell the coffers a bit.
Catarina I met and married my late OH in Oxford when I was working there back in 1962, and back then it was a lovely pretty little city and about the biggest shop there was a BHS.
I returned a couple of years ago and was saddened at how much it had changed gone were the tiny little odd shops down alleyways and Georges's cafe in the Market Now it has turned into a replica of almost any town centre in the country and has lost its uniqueness They say the past is a country best not revisited and in this case it was true. I lived and worked in Oxford back in the early 1960s and really loved the place ,but now I'm afraid its just another corporate town .
I know times change and things move on ,but even in Canterbury (which is a lovely place to visit ) its not been spoiled by modernity thank goodness.
I am off up to Lancashire in April and my friend and I will go for a mooch around all the small markets towns up there, and we like to stay away from the big cities for this reason.
Last year when we went to stay in Leek in Staffordshire we had a great time exploring the smaller more off the beaten track places Only went into Stoke once and wasn't impressed ,although the museum was very good.
Right well time I got the kettle on and sorted a few odds and ends out I got my washing done and dry yesterday (my Mum would be spinning to think I hung washing out on a Sunday:):))How times have changed eh
:):)
Have a great Monday chums what ever you are doing ,enjoy it
Cheers JackieO x0 -
Morning all
Flood alert!!!
Not outside but inside...the drainage pipe from my washing machine has decided to split..hence the flood.
I happened to be in the room at the time and managed to switch the machine off, but not before a significant amount of water had escaped and my slippers and dressing gown got soaked.
Being O/S as I am  I have cut the pipe and made a temporary repair and watching with eagle eyes as the WM finishes its cycle. I haven't yet tackled the flood..I needed a cup of tea first...priorities O/S style
So a trip to the hardwear store is in order later so I can buy a new hose. Just keeping my fingers crossed my temp repair holds till the end of the wash!.
Hacking cough kept my awake much of the night but my throat has eased thankfully.
Is it really Monday already  What a start to the new week.
Have a good day all and take care'I'm sinking in the quicksand of my thought
And I ain't got the power anymore'0 -
Good Morning all,
Hugs to anyone who wants or needs one.
Woke up to what was promising to be a nice sunny day, thoughts of spring started dashing through my head...then the hopes were dashed with a great down pour out of nowhere! Staying grey outside now.
Just made myself a cuppa at work and catching up on emails.
I hate to wish away time but i could do with March payday now, my bank account is looking a little sorry for herself! Plus DD is in need of school shoes and a new pair of trousers...money goes in and just falls straight back out!
Really need to tighten my belt and bump up the 'school cash stash'- plan for March i think.
Off to see nan and grandad on my lunch break, sit down for a chat and see if they need anything doing quickly.
Not sure what is for tea this evening as the cooker packed up half way through sunday dinner yesterday -Nightmare! Had to send the half cooked chicken and roasties to my sisters to finish lol Luckily she only lives down the road. I'm thinking jacket spuds in the microwave with cheese, bacon (the grill is working still) and veggies.
Right, guess should go earn my pennies.

Morning all
Didn't manage to get on here yesterday as Sunday seems to be an extra busy day for us.
Yesterdays lunch was a roast pork dinner and tea was pancakes as Dad can't make Tuesday.
Had a call from next door neighbour whilst cooking lunch, asking if I would go round because she was lonely and her carer hadn't arrived. Felt awful because I couldn't but she'd had her lunch ( meals on wheels) and didn't need anything,so I asked about her family because she has two children and two grown up grandchildren all living within about 1 to 5 miles away. Answer came that they wouldn't come  . I know there is no love lost between them but she is their family not mine.
Anyway this morning DW emptied, refilled and on and there's some ironing lurking in the basket with my name on it so that's for after lunch. Tea today will be a beef chow mein sort of dish, as I found a lone piece of steak in the freezer, so will chop it up and add it to some noodles.
DH is also sneezing his head off - I did try not to share;)
Hope all the poorlies feel better soon and sending good vibes to those going to hospital appointments.
Have a good Monday.
nanFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently0 -
Late start for me today as I was up with Rosie dog in the night, she had an accident in the house which despite her age rarely happens but always upsets her so I stayed up with her for a while.
Give her a cuddle from her Aunty Wolfy. And one for Tilly dog, as I don't want her to feel excluded.:oIf your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
When they've been clean all their lives, they do get upset when their elderly bodies let them down; after all, we'd be upset if it happened to us, and I don't think it's any different for dogs.
Give her a cuddle from her Aunty Wolfy. And one for Tilly dog, as I don't want her to feel excluded.:o
Will do, all seems well today so should imagine it was just one of those things. They both love a cuddle so thank you0 -
Hello all
Nmlc thank you for starting the thread.
TA hope all goes well for you today.
JackieO to tell you the truth we really did not find Oxford very inspiring, too grand and pretentious, at every step you are reminded that if you are not a student or an academic you are nothing (but a tourist I suppose!). We won't go back as visitors but DH goes there occasionally for martial arts courses. He will go on a day return ticket in the future, we have decided.
Hugs to all who need them and well wishes to the poorlies.
Today seems to be a bit of a bland day for me, morning waiting for a delivery, then a walk to the post office (my exercise for the day), then lunch, now waiting for a gardener to come and advise us what to do with our pig-ugly garden. DH planned and designed it, bless him, he who has only designed stations all his life, great on the technical stuff but oh dear, not much of a landscape designer.
We have had umpteen arguments about this bl**dy garden and now it is the time to do something about it, apart from anything else we had to let the next door neighbour excavate a trench against their wall and fill it with pebbles supposedly was meant to cure their damp problem (it didn't, they only wasted money and put it in the pockets of a cowboy builder). Now that place is the cats' toilet and everytime I look at what used to be my lovely ramshackle vegetable garden I want to cry.
I hope something can be done without breaking the bank, but if I have to throw a bit of cash at that horror I will do, so I will!
I hope to pop to the gym briefly later, for a short workout and weigh myself.
Nothing planned for the evening, probably we will watch part 2 of Roots.
Have a good evening. Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0
