We've been about six times. Only once have we had to go via Malaga

Caletta is a really nice hotel. 5 minutes in taxi or twenty minute walk. from Airport.

Sea Wave pub on seafront next to Caletta is very friendly
Private Parking Tickets - Make sure you put your Subject Access Request in after 25th May 2018 - It's free & ask for everything, don't forget the DVLA :D

    Thank you Steve,

Understand from reading recent reviews there is building work on going at hotel, but hopefully won't bother us.

Only 5 mins in a cab??? Wonder why the tour company wanted to charge us £88 return then!!!!!

Was planning on using the bus but might splash out on a taxi.

That would probably be via the scenic route right round the rock

From memory you would have to swap buses anyway. You go to the roundabout on the other side of runway & turn left. All the buses carry straight on

    Yes that sounds right.

It's bus 5 from airport to market place (where all buses go I think) then a 4 or 8 to the hotel. You can get an all day ticket cheaply, so that was my plan. Drop the bags off then spend rest of day out and about. We arrive early so will get the most the first day this way.
  • Try not to bring any Gibraltar notes back with you, they may say pounds and have the queens head on them and the shops there do happily take British notes and exchange them £ for £.

But the banks back here will charge to change Gibraltar notes for 'proper ones'

There is no UK market for Gibraltar notes - banks won't accept them.

Is there somewhere I can check just how many flights are diverted?

I'm guessing more in winter than summer, and as we're travelling in March would like to know the odds

You could have a look at flightstats, it's the crosswinds that are the problem.

Really? 3 years ago my local HSBC was quite happy to change mine for a fee of course.

    It's an interesting spot alright.

One thing I will say is that there are so many motorbikes there, the air can be a bit heavy with pollution. I was amazed by that. But it is such a small space and the bikes are crammed into it.

Otherwise, I would honestly stay on the Spanish side cheaper too! Just a walk across with your passport (don't forget that) and you are there.

Gibraltar is so different, and so much the same. I hope you understand what I mean.
