Maybe car bluetooth connections have improved and I'm behind the times but there certainly used to be plenty of complaints about them. My car doesn't have one.

I just tell the car to dial a number or name and it's all done seamlessly. Perfect sound and mic pickup every time. Very few cars being built now without at least Bluetooth connections, most offering hands free and more.

Check what your new car can do with a phone.
My Kia Venga will only answer the phone & redial the last number the phone dialed.
A right pain so I never use it.

Try telling your phone to dial whatever number you want. Once it's dialled it should be transmitted through the system.
Of course if you don't have an Android with OK google or iPhone with Siri, you won't get that choice...:(
