Cheap Bluetooth Flip Phone needed please

Hi,
I'm looking for recommendations for a new mobile please; my existing Samsung ten quid PAYG flip-front phone is excellent, but it doesn't have bluetooth so can't connect to my new car, which is bluetooth enabled. Ideally I'm looking for:
Very small
Bluetooth that will connect to my car and accept/make calls without touching the phone
Flip front - highly desirable
Calls and Texts
Internet - ok if it's there, but not bothered
Camera - ok if its there, but not bothered
Excellent battery life - my current phone goes for 10 days or more without charging
SIM free - absolutely no contracts
Ideally under fifty quid!

I really don't want a smartphone jobbie that won't fit in your pocket, shatters the first time it's dropped, needs charging every other day and is so full of gadgets you need a degree to drive the bloody thing!

Any ideas please - many thanks!
Brian

  • Thanks - been considering that one but seems to be questions regarding how well (or not) it'll pair with car systems?
  • Try an FM transmitter & you wont need to buy a phone
  • my dads got this model doro, connects perfect to a ford cmax no problem , should imagine the flip is the same.

I'm amazed that there are still flip phones made. Still I did read that Nokia are re-launching their 3310 (no that is not a joke).

I'd go with the FM transmitter - they are cheap and probably more reliable than car bluetooth connections.

It's a very long time since I used an in-car FM transmitter, and it wasn't with a phone so the tech may have changed since then, but does that allow you to use the phone hands free, which is what the OP wants? Given the law change on mobile phone use in cars that has come into force today (6 points, £200, ban for new drivers) and the stats on deaths and serious injuries where mobile phone use has been a factor it is incumbent on everyone to use a suitable solution if planning to have the phone available as a phone while driving.

Personally I have no problem at all with Bluetooth but I know some cars are more difficult to set up than my Fords have been (Suzuki for one).

Seeing the recommendations for an FM transmitter, I was wondering the same thing.

    I don't think it does.

No the transmitters just put the audio over the radio. So far as I'm aware nothing is truly hands free - you just use your hands on something other than the phone itself.

Maybe car bluetooth connections have improved and I'm behind the times but there certainly used to be plenty of complaints about them. My car doesn't have one.

FM transmitters are terrible and out of date in my experience. Bluetooth beats it for sound quality, reliability and features. You can control the phone via Bluetooth, and of course, take calls. None of that is possible with an FM transmitter. Stick with Bluetooth.
