Buddy/Ignore lists

I'm wanting to put someone on ignore (first time doing this, but they've really annoyed me  ).

I've picked their name from the Members' list, but when I ask to add them to the Ignore List, I have a yellow warning triangle telling me that they don't exist

Can anyone help?

TIA.

Seems to happen just for particular people, and you get for example.

wol_error.gif The user 'penelope penguin' was not found in the database. Please go back and correct this problem. You may want to check out the member list.

I tried it with your username because it seems to happen more (but not exclusively) with usernames that contain spaces.

As far as I remember there was an old bug in vBulletin that used to throw up a similar error when a name contained odd characters. That was a long while ago though.

So there seems to be a problem with either vBulletin, it's implementation here, or it accessing this forums db for some kinds of queries.

It should be fixable, but might not be easy. Whatever happens it's not your fault. :)

EDIT: I might have to pinch your penguin quote.:rotfl:

I think it happens if the name begins with a capital letter.

Sometimes. Although I have added at least one person whose name begins with a capital. Interestingly, once on the list their name is displayed as de-capitalised (unlike on the forum itself).

Oh well. It's annoying, but not a great issue for most I suppose?

Doesn't seem to matter which of the several ways to add someone to a list that you use. If the forum doesn't like a particular username it just says "no".

Doesn't seem to want to work for mine. :(
I think Webby is still trying to work out a permanent fix.

Its a capital letter problem, the MODS are aware of it, I think the MODS could solve this if they introduced an icon next to the "report" orreport.gif icon that you could press to ignore a poster.

Failing that, you could simply just ignore their posts, unless they become abusive to the point you that can click report.gif .

  • It appears to be fixed - so many thanks to whoever has been working on this, you're a star

I took the initiative and started a buddy list (no idea what it does, but I have far more buddies than ignorees ;) ). I added a name that has a space and capital letters (and couldn't add yesterday), and it was added.
