Passport Query, which country

in Overseas holidays & travel planning
I'm filling in the application for a new passport and am not sure what to put for country of birth.

Should I put England, Britain, or United Kingdom ?

Its not clear from the notes and my birth certificate only has the town.


I'm leaning towards United Kingdom, as form says country of birth (including UK)

    I always put United Kingdom- mine came back in under 2 weeks with no problems ( that was for a renewal!)
    Being polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!

    I put United Kingdom when I renewed my son's passport, and on those that I have certified the applications the applicants have also put United Kingdom.

    Thanks all, I've just checked the online form and its a dropdown menu for 'country of birth' with United Kingdom as the only 'british/english' option.

    It will probably only list those countries that appear in the ISO list of countries

    I emailed the passport agency and received reply today confirming that United Kingdom is the required option for those born in England.
