Old Style Daily Sunday 26th February

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Good morning everyone :hello:

I've been up for a few hours so I thought I would start us off this morning. Before I forget, Happy Birthday to Gers and Lainey
:bdaycake::bdaycake: Hope you have a fantastic day xxxx

I have spent my time this morning buying an electric multicooker and looking up recipes for said machine. I love me a kitchen gadget :D:D
I've also done a quick Tesco online shop for ingredients, I am really looking forward to having a play.

Today I am going to be packing up all the unused bits and pieces in my kitchen ready for the boiler to be fitted on Wednesday. I am going to take full advantage of all the tall humans in my house and get them to help and sort my cupboards. It's a good opportunity to see what I actually need and what can be disposed of.

I had my mini baking marathon yesterday and the girls were so happy to come downstairs for cake and brownies as well as a pan of flapjack. There is still a fair bit left so that will do for desserts for the next few days. I was very good and just had a tiny taste of each for quality control purposes :rotfl:.

Well, I hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx
• :bdaycake::bdaycake:Thank you Dumpling for starting us off today, as you can see I am up early as well.

I just wanted to wish Lainey and Gers a very happy birthday and hope you both have a lovely day.

Morning fellow early birds and thanks for starting us off DUMPLING. Happy Birthday to GERS and LAINEY. Have a great day whatever you are up to!

I am feeling very sorry for myself this morning! Out of nowhere yesterday I was blasted with a cold. Sneezing non-stop and nose running like a tap. Grr! I've gone all winter without one and on the home run to Spring I get one!

The DGDs are all still asleep so sneaking around quietly. I enjoy my morning cuppas in peace! They are here till just after lunch then eldest is going to a baby shower for their dad's partner's forthcoming baby. Middle one is parading in the Brownie pack march for Thinking Day and youngest (A Rainbow) not marching but going straight to church. As much as we love them it's always a relief when DD comes to collect them!!

The vote was for Pizzas and BBQ ribs for tea yesterday, so the sausages are still in the fridge for lunch. May do a sausage casserole as it makes them a bit more exciting! I think with Dauphinoise potatoes, baby carrots and peas. Though there will no doubt be grumbles that they prefer mashed potatoes!

Other than entertaining and feeding DGDs no further plans. Once they have gone it'll be feet up with my new book. Another Erica James to get my Italian fix - Tell it to the Skies. It's promising to be a good read.

Have a good day all and (HUGS) for the poorlies, sad and worried who want one. Take care xx

Morning everyone!

Happy Birthday to Lainey. bdaycake: (can't get the icon to work from my tablet)

Thanks for the wishes, I've been awake for ages, too much food last night and we ate much too late for my comfort. Mind you I enjoyed it all and even had seconds so the discomfort serves me right.

This morning I'm off to the Potato Day :j to chose my five seed potatoes. Then I'm going home, hopefully the decorator will have finished so I can enjoy the room again and put back all the paintings and photos. I'm using command strips this time as the lathe and plaster wall are rubbish.

When will I ever feel my age? Only my knees feel 63!

Happy Sunday to everyone.
• Good morning and happy birthdsy to Gers and Lainey.

We are off to see my mum and her DH today, will see my sister too.

Hope everyone has a good day.

Morning everyone

Hugs to those that need/want one x

Happy birthday to Gers and Lainey, and anyone else who has a birthday x

Now light, damp underfoot, cloudy sky and cooler here.

DH and myself now enjoying first peaceful cuppas of the day. Boys still in their pits.

Dinner last night was pizza, southern fried chicken portions, salad and coleslaw/pasta salad - rather later than normal.

When I got home from work DH's cousin and wife called in on the on chance we'd be home as they were en route home from having a night away in a hotel. Was lovely to see them and they stayed for over an hour chatting etc, we don't see them very often and great to catch up. It did have an impact on our plans to get the tyres changed yesterday, so after they'd left we got a quick bite to eat, then visited both sets of parents, it was very nearly 6pm before we got home, so dinner was later than normal. Tyres have been re-booked for next Saturday. Today we're going out around 11.30am, and won't be back until this evening, so I'll be getting a shower in a mo, then organising a cooked brekkie and also getting pack ups etc done, so I don't have to bother later.

Keep safe and well x

Morning :hello:

Happy Birthday Gers :bdaycake: and Lainey :bdaycake: :D

My shoulder is aching, a deep achy-pain that painkillers don't touch and heat has no effect on. Because I haven't moved around much, my hip is playing up too. I feel like my right side has given up on me, lol.

The lounge has paint! The ceiling is done and the walls need one more coat. The plumber chipped away quite a bit of wall behind the radiators so he could sink the pipes in. This still needs to be filled but can't be done for about a week so I'll wait til that's done then slap some paint on, it'll only take a few minutes.

I'll be shut out of the lounge til lunchtime, along with Scampi. I can't walk him at the mo – I'm far too wobbly, one lunge and I'll end up flat on my face, lol – so I'll give the bedroom a good clean while he helps by lounging on the bed :D We'll have a game in the garden after that and hope next door's cat stays away.

This afternoon I'd like to sit on the sofa with my lunch on a lap tray, watching a couple of my recorded programs. Can't see it happening though, I'll probably end up cleaning the oven and checking the cupboards for mice - I haven't seen any evidence of them for a while but I think they're sneaky little sods and will reappear when I'm not expecting it :D

• Morning all. Happy Birthday Lainey and Gers :birthdaycake:

Great Rugby yesterday, and family visiting. Lots of food consumed. Need to take sister to airport at 1130. Then manic packing - Blackheath/Canterbury/Cambridge for 1 week, back for a couple of days, then skiing.

Boss also away this week so I have to be the office before I go - long days Monday Tuesday, and I have an accounts deadline so I need to do some work. I really want to fit in a visit to a friend, but it may have to be cancelled unless I get my arris in gear.

Have a great day people.

• Good Morning everyone and Happy Birthday to both Gers and Lainey Lainey I know this year will feel bittersweet but try to think of how much your mum loved you and would want you to be happy today. Gers you are far too young at heart to be 63 ,:):):) a mere stripling in fact :):)

This morning my eldest DD is coming to breakfast with coffee fest. Strangled eggs, crackers ,soda and lots of coffee :):):) Her idea of a sunday morning 'spoil' as I wait on her hand, foot and finger :):):) Its her retreat back to childhood from being a grown up Mum and busy lady :):):) She is also bring me a few black bags of bits that my DGS left for me to dispose of when he flew off to his new life in the U.S..Danny and I spoke before he went, and we decided that if his Mum was getting rid of bits she would be more upset, rather than just bringing me things for me to find a home for :):) Danny is a smart and caring young man bless him.

I haven't seen her for a couple of weeks as she has been away herself in New York on holiday so we will have a lot of catching up to do.

Dinner at youngest DDs tonight so only breakfast and lunch to make today.
TA you poor soul fancy going and catching a cold this close to spring I hope you can shake it off ,you really are in the wars at the moment what with everything thats going on in your life ,Have a bit of a paperday this afternoon if you can and spoil yourself.
<<hugs to the poorly and downhearted ,spring is definitely on its way the bulbs are really getting into their stride now

Take care everyone and enjoy the day if you can

Morning everyone,

Happy Birthday Gers :bdaycake: hope you have a great day m'dear and join me in a glass (or two) of something suitably alcoholic x

Am enjoying my early morning cuppa, the girls have ahem helped me open my presents and DOH is now clearing up the paper off the floor :)
It's a beautiful day here after yesterday's wind and rain, hopefully the sun will stick around as we are out to lunch at one of our favourite pubs, it's by the river so hopefully can have a walk after we've eaten, that's if I can :rotfl:
Other than that it's a day of chilled enjoyment, as Jackie says it's bittersweet without my darling Mum but the last thing she would want is for me not to celebrate life, after all she gave it to me

Have a good day sunday everyone, take care folks x
