I do hope that it is indeed all a mix up on dates and you can move as planned.

Ask the developer if you can put your things in the garage and then go to a hotel/have a holiday or something.
The contract with the developer will have a clause about extending the completion date without penalty, so check this and try to get a firm completion date when you sign.
  • I'm confused. As you've already exchanged with your buyer, you'll be moving out on 24th March, regardless of your new build? Surely that will cost you more than the £500 spent so far? Apologies if I've missed something.

    Money invested is very slim.
£500 inc searches. This would be outweighed by having to rent a furnished flat or house for several weeks plus storage costs for furniture.
    So we would walk away.

If you walked away, do you have somewhere lined up you could buy and move into in the time needed to avoid having to rent a furnished flat or house for several weeks plus storage costs for furniture?eg by 24th March?

OP seems to think if they walk they will find a completed new build property and be able to get everything in place to complete on it on 24 March...

If there is a waiting list , then that's ok with me. We will move on and let them start whole sales process again.
We will be a cash buyer if we do walk away and find another development with a signed off property ready for occupation.

We plan to exchange contracts on our new build purchase next week.

If you haven't exchanged. Then there's no pressure on the builder to schedule finishing your property before any others on the development. Other people will be exchanging all the time. You don't actually hold much leverage at the current time.
