Ebico / SSE partnership has ended!

Hm, it seems that one thing I never got around to doing/never realised I could do, was set up an account with SSE. So I've done that now and given them some meter readings just in case they come in useful. Couldn't see anything for claiming a refund, maybe I need to wait until the switch goes through and then do it. I assume I don't click the "I want to switch supplier" thing because Ebico will be sorting that for me?0
-
Have you tried googling "sse refund"?0
-
Wait, what, use Google when I can just spam up the boards here with daft questions?
Seriously I'm in no mad rush for the cash and now that I've clicked the magic button so that Ebico can start doing their thing, I'm assuming there's a process... if nothing falls out of that, then I'll start doing something. What I don't want is to e.g. end up owing them 35p and have it be a massive headache just because I had to have it NOW.0 -
Well I'm another that received the email. I am not sure why you seem to doubt it?
Looks like you got hold of the wrong end of the proverbial stick. I actually doubt what Ebico told me on the phone.
Re. info: Still nothing at all received yet. On 6th March I'll be escalating my complaint if still not received in view of the 15th March deadline posted on the Ebico web site.0 -
Received my letter from Ebico today with all the info.
Have decided to switch and went online with the customer code given in the letter, seems pretty painless, waiting on the welcome pack to arrive in the post now.I always wanted to be a procrastinator, never got round to it...0 -
@ icefall, lucky you. Still nothing. Ebico have until tomorrow (Friday 3rd March) at 8:30PM to reply to my complaint within the time frame they have set themselves - 3 working days - or indeed to provide me with info and the ability to opt out of the switch to RHE. Then on Monday if the info is still not received I'll be escalating my complaint which will give Ebico up to 8 weeks to provide their final decision before I take it to Ofgem.
Really, I am absolutely amazed that I have to resort to such extreme measures. Am I hot property or something?0 -
They don't seem very clear about things when you ring them. For example, after speaking to both Ebico and RHE on the phone, I'm still unclear about who will be administering my changed Ebico gas account when it's up and running, whereas up to now whenever I've wanted to check detais of my gas account I always logged onto my SSE account to check things like bills, payments made, usage, etc.
Also, they have a number - 0800 028 6699 - and it's pot luck whether you get put through to Ebico or RHE.
Doesn't inspire confidence.0 -

Well, you're certainly getting hot under the collar!
I've just seen this thread and a search through my various inboxes found the email, which I'd missed, so thanks OP! Might be an idea for others to do the same, as it didn't jump out at me.
I'll be staying with Ebico as my annual usage is so low - around £36 p.a. for gas, and low too for electricity as I have solar panels. I pay on receipt of bill, but could be eligible for a DD discount under the new arrangement. Probably won't be a**sed changing, to be honest..0 -
I received my letter today which was the first I had heard about the change.
I used to have both my electricity and gas with Ebico as its cost was reasonable (not cheapest) and I liked paying by quarterly DD for the energy that I had actually used. I heat my house with storage heaters so SSE was cheaper than Ebico and with the uncertainty of where energy prices were going I switched my electricity to a 3-year SSE fix a few months back. To get the cheapest price I was obliged to change to monthly fixed direct debits and I have had bills estimated and reissued a few times (not at my request) so that I cannot figure out how the bill has been calculated. The final meter readings used to calculate my last Ebi bill are different to the ones used as my initial SSE readings. A shambles which I will have to sort out some time. At present I am not sure if I have gained or lost in the confusion. If anyone one is thinking that a switch from Ebico to SSE will be less hassle than a move to another supplier I suggest that may not be the case.
I have always used little gas and recently I have been using even less. I only have a gas cooker and recently I have been cooking and eating main meals at my mother's house. So sticking with a zero standing charge tariff is a no-brainer for me.0 -

It appears that Ebico has revised its complaints time-frame to "within 10 working days" if they cannot sort it out immediately. Previously it was 3 working days. It may be prudent for me to initiate a full-blown switch immediately rather than wait 10 working days during which time the switch to RHE will be under way. It will cost me £15 a year more for the SSE fixed tariff but the plus is that I will be freeing myself from the current Ebico/RHE fiasco.

@ alanq: You will not be transferring to SSE because you are already with SSE. You will be transferring to RHE if you don't opt out. SSE refers to Ebico as the "Equipower" tariff and a change to SSE exclusively is a change of tariff and not a change of supplier. Go ahead and register an account on the SSE website and see for yourself.0
