Does my cam belt need changing only done 6k on a 11 plate?

Hi!
I purchased a last year which only had one owner.
It is 2011, 6k on clock. The manufacturer recommendeds it be replaced after 6 years or 60k which ever is sooner. Although i would like to double check this as i can not find it anywhere only , where do i check?
Does it need replacing with so little miles done on it? A few garages are telling me i would be throwing my in the bin.
One local garage told me they can take the cam belt covers off and tell by looking if it needs doing or not. I know nothing about cars , is this possible or are they having me on?
Would appreciate any advice on what it is best to do

Yes, do it now! Friends Nissan Micra was bought from and serviced by local Nissan dealer for 8 years and then the belt snapped ruining the engine after just 14k miles. The car was a write off, Nissan and the dealer refused to help.0

Thanks guys i will get it done! Very expensive six year service at main dealer £489
they change other parts which they recommend doing 0 -

If they're doing the cambelt, tensioners, water pump and a service it's a good price.0 -
As others have said, you know the interval is 6 years OR 60k miles. You vehicle is six years old so it needs changing. Better do it now than post something a few months later about a snapped cam belt and moaning about the even greater cost of fixing your engine.0

Well the water pump and tensioner won't need doing after only 6K miles. Maybe you can get the cost down by just getting the belt only changed (they'd probably only change that anyway and you'd never know but be charged for pump and tensioners).
You can tell to some extent whether a belt needs changing by looking at it and feeling it but its not guaranteed to be accurate by any means.
Why not just get a quote for a belt only change?0
