Cancellation of flight

Options
Hi. Apologies first if this is in the wrong forum.
Advice needed...
Booked a 2 week hol from Bristol to Kos Monday 24th July....Only to be phoned today to say the flight has been cancelled...Options were then to fly from Gatwick or Birmingham....But.....On the Thursday 27th....I live in south Wales so Bristol was my second choice, as Cardiff did not go on my original date... It sounded like the travel agent was trying to get me to go on the new date and from Birmingham.... But I've already booked the original date with work....
How can I resolve this as surely they are supposed to find me a flight on the Monday and not make me take a different flight and date????

Thanks.
Martin.

What was the airline? EU regulations say that you should be offered rerouting but they don't specify if this should be on any airline. Most airlines will only reroute onto their own flights (or alliance partners).
  • Was the flight booked as part of a package or the flight only

Have you looked to see if any convenient flights are available, even from different airlines and at a high price? If so you can always ask to be rerouted to what you want (of course at no extra charge).
  • Hi. Flight was booked together with accommodation.
    Thanks.
  • In that case you could well be on a package holiday. Have you contacted the tour operator (e.g. Thomson) rather than the airline

Which agent did you book through? It could be a package or it could be a flight plus. Whichever, any changes or discussions about the booking will have to be done via the agent as they own the booking. If it's a standard tour ops package (eg Thomas Cook, Olympic etc) then they have given the available options to the agent, otherwise the airline has given the options.
