Has anyone invested in hotel rooms

Ive had a similar investment for 2 years initially with MBI Investment in an off-plan care home, they have recently written to me to say that due to new CQC regs the care home is no longer an attractive proposition and have offered to 'divest' my £51k into a hotel room next month or a Centre Parcs look-alike in south wales in a year or two
I really would like my investment back now as ive lost faith in the company but dont now how to do this without it costing me a lot of money in legal fees
Ive also posted this on another forum0 -
I can see one big massive issue with these hotel room investments.
Let's say you own a hotel - 50% of the rooms are owned by you, 50% by outside investors. A guest shows up - who's room do you think the manager will put them in???0 -
Can I ask did you go ahead and invest in the hotel scheme or not? I am looking at the new Signature hotel investments for Belfast and am interested in finding out the "down side" from people who have actually invested0

Usual question, if you are looking at exotic investments like this, have you already filled your S&S ISA completely this year and got a substantial portfolio of other assets?Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.0 -
This topic seems to have gone quiet. I invested in two hotels The Corran in Wales and The Halcyon in France. The first is a copy of the comment about widgets.10% for two years. money stopped, liquidation - wiping out all previous debts. Pre-arranged buy back of hotel for a song by new company set up by directors of the old one. New director is convicted drug dealer who did five years for drugs and guns. My leasehold unit being let out but no share of rent being received. £19M of investors' money gone! Liquidator will probably only recover enough money to pay his fees.Original company was selling units and fractions of units on land they did not even own!
Halcyon - money has stopped - currently investigating legal action
Serious legal action almost impossible. The police do not want to know.
Chapter and verse, if interested, from me, Ian Dixon , at iandixon@btinternet.com.

For the vast majority it would cost more money than you would stand to make on your investment to actually go to the tens of thousands of pounds of due diligence cost to have advisers and specialists independently assess the business model and prospects. Any guarantee is worth no more than the value of the paper it's printed on, once the firm backing it has gone out of business.
The one thing I would say Ian is that by putting your personal contact details out there or even by inviting messages or correspondence on your MSE account: BEWARE.
You will open yourself up to contact from all sorts of joker and charlatans with common sob stories and ideas on (e.g.) how they can share costs with you of getting some solicitors together for joint action, just need a thousand quid up front for the retainer etc and Boom there goes another thousand quid of good money after bad - because actually they are a conman themselves and just wanted to steal your personal information and/or cash.0
