Thank you for that, we recently upgraded our account to this one and I did wonder if it was too good to be true. It is very good value at £10 pcm. It is reassuring to know that it comes through when you need it to do so.
I do need to ring them and ask how much extra we need to pay as my other half has just been prescribed meds for blood pressure. Has anyone any experience of doing this with this account?0 -

I declared a health condition at the time I opened my account. Straightforward process over the phone answering their medical questionnaire and, in my case, no additional premium.0 -
If you have a partner (you mention 3 Tesco current accounts) then you could have a total of 6 BOS Vantage accounts @ 3% between you. That could be a home for the balance from one of your 123 accounts.
You can also have up to three FlexDirect Accounts between you, 2 Flexclusive regular savers and three(may only be two?) TSB Classic Plus accounts.
You could also aim to get two M&S current accounts and its linked 5% regular/monthly savers and an additional FD First Account + regular saver.
There are also referral incentives available with Nationwide and First Direct.
Also, keep an look out for if/when Tesco allows further applications.
The number of accounts that a couple can have between them is significant.
Thanks for that.
Yes, I split the accounts with my wife.
The problem I have is twofold, with income and having enough direct debits. That's what makes the Tesco accounts with require neither so wonderful. I have my pension, such as it is, doing cartwheels going from account to account, I have to be careful not to confuse myself. As for the DD's, I've already had to go down the charity route, nothing wrong with that of course but it does sort of defeat the object.
I've a decision to make in April, I may try to fund another HBOS account and close a Santander. I will fill up the ISA though as it's a 2 year deal and you can't get 1.8% at present anywhere else.
Thanks again.0 -

I can help with this.
I had to pay an extra £70 last year as I was going to be out of the country for over 31 days. I too take blood pressure tablets but that wasn't an issue, it only becomes one when your medication changes. However my wife's did go from one type to another and there was no fee.
As an aside, I was very worried about my renewal as like I said originally I'd suffered with blood clots, two on the lungs and one in my leg caused from the recent long haul flights. It was with trepidation that I rang to tell them of the changes to my health and in truth was expecting a hefty raise, especially as we are off to America in the Spring. There was an increase, £125 but that just £55 more than last year and I'm very happy with that. It is also reassuring to think the insurance company believe I am a small risk.0 -
Thank you, we are off to the US later in the year and the best trip insurance price I could get for a couple was £223 declaring the meds. With this account our son who is at university is covered too, so we are well in credit before adding in any of the other services.
I think it is good to give praise where it is due. It also helps others make decisions on quotes which may have little between them.
Our son had a fantastic expereince with Tesco car insurance last year, non fault accident, car written off, full settlement cheque received in 4 days.
We also had a good experience claiming for a burst via Lloyds insurance, great service.
Thanks again.0 -
Trying not to get diverted but this really isn't correct. The true interest rate is exactly as stated. Why would you expect to be paid interest on money not in the account?
We earn 5% for the first month's contribution, but subsequent sums are not in the account for a year, so the rate diminishes.
Anyone who expects to receive 5% on their entire sum will be disappointed.
I'm happy that my £2500 earns 3% all year.Member #14 of SKI-ers club
Words, words, they're all we have to go by!.

As said, declare conditions and it's a reasonable cost. OH paid £85, 92 and £115 in the three years we've been with them.Member #14 of SKI-ers club

Are you saying that you keep £2500 in the FlexPlus rather than in the Flexclusive Regular Saver because it earns a better rate in the FlexPlus?0 -

No, you are wrong. You receive 5% on the entire amount in your account for the time it is there. The interest rate is 5% and does not diminish regardless of what you are trying to claim. Please don't tell people incorrect information.Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.0 -
