I shall be restraining myself from eating things I like that I know aren't good for me .My go to fix with a cuppa is ginger nuts and i can easily be swayed into eating far too many I haven't got a great sweet tooth but I do love those little brown pieces of heaven
:):) so no biscuits for me for 44 days
I shall also try to cut back on meat and increase my veggie meals I do like veggie lasagne and also curries and chilli's so its not too much of a hardship.good for the waistline, and the purse as well
.With the onset of the better weather its time to get a bit fitter perhaps so a healthier eating plan even if its only for several weeks won't hurt.last year I weaned the DGS off crisps
their Mum was quite pleased about that I am not a pop or crisp eater so its not something I would have to give up I don't eat bread anyway so no good giving that up.
Thinking about it I eat fairly well I guess and when giving something up its got to be something you would really miss ,so definitely my little golden biscuits have got to go
:):) roll on easter
:):)

I'd like to give something up for lent, I'm just not sure what's left to give up
I do very occasionally have something sweet like a biscuit, I suppose I could give that up but unless it's an everyday bad habit I'm doubtful as to the value.Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

Then take up something instead? A good habit you've been meaning to get round to? It's just another form of a focused attempt at self disciplineIt doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!0

I'm the same, just gave up the fags, mostly knocked the booze on the head, dropped the fizzy pop, don't eat cakes biscuits crisps other then a rare occasion
Such a virtuous life I lead
Some would say bloody boring lol
What I will attempt to do is to make sure I exercise everyday for 30 mins for lent. It's something I let slip at weekends and on work days but i do actually enjoy it when I get going, it's just finding the get up and go that's the problem0 -

IIRC you posted recently you've been struggling to eat more than once a day due to a lack of interest in food?
Maybe try 44 days of planning and eating small regular meals? Getting into the habit of enjoying meals again.
I'm 'giving up meat', but what I'm actually trying to do is eat non-meat meals for 44 days.
I - personally - won't have met my goal if I just 'don't eat dinner' and survive on eggs and beans on toast.
I need to change the behaviour - not just stop it - IYSWIM?That sounds like a classic case of premature extrapolation.

I've been vegetarian since I was 11, many years ago. Mediterranean veg were not available where I lived in those far off days. I do enjoy 'traditional' veg with potatoes, though.
Now life is very easy, so much available. As a young married, Rose Elliott's Modern Vegetarian Cooking was my bible.
OH eats meat though, as do my offspring.Member #14 of SKI-ers club

I'm going to do my best to give up being judgemental and critical and hope to carry on when Lent is over. They are my least appealing traits
I have a horrible habit of sharing negative thoughts freely and I need to stop.
Food wise I'm going to stop cheating myself and the family by hitting the biscuits and cheese every time MrC takes the dog out for a walk. I'd stopped snacking for the past 16 months and then suddenly started again. Lent will be a good time to stop.
My daughters vegetarian, her favourite Sunday treat is Sarah Browns cheese and lentil loaf. Recipe here:

I make it with less cheese and omit the cream completely though.
It's really good hot, or cold with salad.0 -

But yes, I could adopt better lifestyle habits.Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

I started doing that at new year and now complement strangers on their hats/bags/shoes/music taste (I'm a woman, which I think helps - possibly creepy if I were a bloke).

Sorry to hear that. I hope things work out okay. That sounds like a classic case of premature extrapolation.

Never understood the need to impose artificial restrictions on diet due to a made up story. Each to their own I suppose.Yeah but if I want to stop eating something, I just do that. i don't need a fictional period to do so. As I said, whatever works I guess.
You've already had your previous alter ego banned so have you not learned from this?I'm not religious - but I know several people who are - and while I don't believe myself, I respect them and their right to believe differently.
I always think: Is what they believe hurting me? If not, will what I'm writing or saying hurt them?
Thank you for the understanding response - I am a Christian but I don't impose my beliefs on others. However, I get really fed up with having to 'turn the other cheek' when people think it's OK to have a pop for no reason.
As a Catholic I will be observing lent BUT the Vatican allows us every Sunday off - as Sunday is always meant to be a celebratory day.... just in case anyone needs a 'cheat'.
