How many holiday days do you get?

I employ a carer due to my health and I have to give her 5.6 weeks paid holiday dictated by my council. (She doesn't work full weeks just a few hours a week). We tend to swap days around to fit in with each other so often she doesn't use full amount and its paid on top end of march.
My husband is self employed and its hard work getting him to take a full holiday.. we take laptop on holiday and he'll do enough to keep things ticking over.
The often quoted school holidays for teachers..
I haven't worked for a long time but teaching used to be 195 days work a year (minimum 1265 hours) .. which gives 170 days remaining - weekends 104= 66 days holiday.. now of course those days holiday went towards planning, coursework marking, reports and so on.. how long is actually spend depends on the teacher, but I never met anyone who didn't use school holidays for catching up and preparing the next terms work.0 -
Being a self employed IT Contractor, the good news for me is i get as many holiday days a year as i like

The bad news is, i dont get paid for them
Best job i had for days off was some years ago in Santander - 28 days a year A/L, 11 days stats and up to 12 days flexi a year. And i think from memory it was a 35 hour week.
Worst, has been the statutory 20 days + 8.0 -
19-20Previous job was 25 days + Bank holidays but I usually didn't take all of them as we were so busy. Switched to a job with 20 + BH but with a 10% pay rise and only took 18 of them. I really don't know how people can find the time to take 28-30 days a year.0

Did the company "buy" the holiday days back off you or were you loyal over-and-above the cause?0 -
29-3029 days plus bank holidays, I also have the option to buy extra holiday. I work part time in the private sector.0

We can carry forward a maximum of 5 days each calendar year but they have to be used by the end of Q1. There is no buy back available or no option to buy more days which some companies offer.
It's not a matter of "loyalty" but just being too busy to take the time off. Actually, I'm taking next Friday and the following Monday off as a long weekend as I have two "use it or lose it" days to take before the end of March.0 -
At my company, we all start on 25 days (pro rated for part time staff) which rises with length of service to a maximum of 30 days.Debt 30k in 2008.:o Cleared all my debt in 2013 and loving being debt free

Mortgage free since 2014

I'm on a zero hour contract so get 12.2% per hour worked. But have been there 5 years officially as I didn't go off the books so will hopefully have a proportion extra from now on. I know ive got 14 hours holiday for January. I just had it paid last year. Might do the same this year too:T:T  :beer::beer: to the lil one

quite generous for zero hours
that should be 12.07% based on 5.6 and a 52wk year.
they can get it down to 12.032 if you use 365 days 52.14 weeks.0 -
27-28I get 28 days + BHs
Cannot take them during term time though (work in a school) Am allowed to carry over 5 days if arranged at the beginning of the year.
In a previous job, we had 25 + BH +3 at Xmas, you HAD to take 10 days and the BHs but the rest would be paid as extra in November, max of 15 daysNever put off till tomorrow what you can do today!
Cos if you do it today and like it...You can do it again tomorrow..
