Can till people see card details on transactions?

I find it difficult to understand why you are going to be annoyed if/when a shop assistant spots this.
Return the goods as you plan to do.
If the refund is refused, then your partner will have to find the time to return later.
If the return is accepted then consider yourself lucky.
Not lucky at all TBH. I feel in my friends instance they were very open to accept the purchase with his partners card, but not so open in giving the money back!
I'll be going down and if they get stroppy about the sex holder card thing. I'll be pointing out why did they allow me to purchase in the first place (must be a security failing on there behalf). Fed up of these stores having it all their own way!0 -

But that's in your friend's case.
In your case, you and your partner have openly abused the terms of the card issue.
As I said, good luck.0 -

Mine don't unless it is encoded in the card somewhere. They just have initial surname or first name surname.
My first name is one that can be either gender.0 -

Many people just have their initials and surname on a card, so that won't help. These days in many circumstances there is absolutely no reason to give the till operator the card at all as the customer is more than capable of putting it in and taking it out of the card reader without the assistance of the shop assistant.
Back to the OP: Generally, they couldn't care less as long as the transaction is approved. I have a terrible habit of not signing my cards, and no one ever noticed even before chip and pin was prevalent, and back then they were at least supposed to check the signatures matched.
And if it's a credit card you're talking about, have you considered secondary cards? That doesn't work for everyone though...0 -
When i worked a Tesco. The old system would print out 2 receipts, one for the customer, the other that goes into the Till. This receipt did have most of the card details on, but was only printed after the transaction went through, which would have been too late to stop by then.
They updated it a number of years ago however, and is all done automatically through the system, so now the only people who can see the card details are the ones working in cash office.
And with chip and pin, the till operator will never really see the card either. The only thing they see on the screen is either than its waiting for a pin, transaction is complete, or its failed (but not the reason for fail).
Obviously it'll be different depending on the retailer/till system used.0 -

Why do you have your partners card in the first place?. With instant (mostly) online bank transfers and credit cards that allow secondary card users why do you need to use a card without your name on it?. Your just creating potential problems for yourself when you do that.0
