Options
Planning on looking at a new car at the weekend, have checked the MOT history online and the last one in June 2016 had these advisories
Are these major jobs as I'm not a big car buff tbh, everything else about the car looks ideal so just wanted to check before wasting the time to go and see it.
Thanks
Advisory notice item(s)
rear Trailing arm rubber bush deteriorated but not resulting in excessive movement both sides (2.4.G.2)
nearside rear Road wheel with a slightly distorted bead rim (4.2.A.1a)

Thanks, item 2 you said about a new tyre being fitted, but the note mentions a wheel? So I need to check if they have replaced the wheel?
If not how much of a deal breaker would it be? Can it be repaired or does it have to be replaced?0 -
correct , a dented or distorted wheel ,not the tyre , should be easy to spot , if wheel trims have not been fitted , posably the wheel may have been changed with the spare0

Assume that will be on the outside of the rim?
They are alloys so no trims.
Would that put you off?0 -

Unless it's the inside face, in which case spotting it will need the car jacked up and each wheel spun in turn and inspected, or the car moved slowly forwards or backwards a bit at a time whilst they are inspected, or preferably, the car put on a ramp and inspected from below.0 -

I think you are mus-interpreting this as the tyre is not on properly, which would be 4.1.D 1da tyre incorrectly seated on the wheel rim
4.2.A 1a refers to the wheel, so it must mean there is a rim with a bend in it from kerbing.
Nothing to worry about, it won't be enough to cause a problem, it will knock out, or swap the wheel for a new one.I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....
(except air quality and Medical Science)

Thanks all, it's not a rare car so if a new wheel is needed then finding one shouldn't be too difficult.0

The car is this one.

There is nothing online about the dealer, no reviews or anything but I did find another dealer based in the same place, but they have a different number etc so looks like a different business.
If buying, I would ensure some of the money went on a credit card as a backup. I'm quite lucky in that I have bought 3 cars from dealers in the past and they have all been faultless, so hoping to continue that streak if I can.
Any advice?0 -

Yes. Trailing arm bush is a common issue on the MK4 Mondeo. The cost of repair at a main Ford dealer is about £110 per side depending on labour rates. The part is £20 and its an hours labour. Had to have mine done at 75,000 miles. It did used to be a big deal as originally Ford would only sell a complete arm which was £220 saying the bush couldn't be replaced on its own but after the aftermarket spares brigade started to sell bushes and bush removal/refitting tools to do just the bush Ford were forced to offer a service just changing the bush. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. Why not ask for the faults to be done before you buy it?Je suis sabot...0
