    Reverse S24
Change the +3% additional stamp duty to a +5% additional stamp duty which would cover the cost of reversing S24 and more directly impact the supposed aims of the recent tax changes

Seems to be having the desired effect with numbers of first time buyers increasing.

A rise in income tax as long as it is directed to the NHS / social care would be sensible IMHO.
And preferably no more tinkering with the treatment of pensions for a year (or so)

Abolish stamp duty and replace it with a land value tax. Abolish stamp duty reserve tax on share transfers and replace it with a higher tax on capital gains. It makes no sense to tax property by charging a fee at the point of sale/purchase, taking no account of how long people have been in the property.

Crack down on sham self-employment. Or, change how national insurance works so that people are not incentivised to claim sham self-employment to reduce their tax bill.

Reduction in the higher and additional rates of income tax, funded by an increase in property taxes and capital gains tax. I don't think it is sensible to tax the money high earners make from their employment at 45%+NI, while taxing the money they make from capital gains at 28%.

    One can but dream ...
  • Bring back the old style Tax disc system for vehicles.
    ANDR£W
  • Abolish stamp duty and income tax on the poor. Replace the lost revenue with a carbon tax.

Abolish Vehicle Excise Duty and add it to fuel costs, then force more of the revenue to repair roads.

Lower our foreign aid and divert it to social care/NHS

    Scrap HS2

Massive incentives for people to buy bigger houses or extend their homes if they take in elderly relatives to care for, and/or free stamp duty and moving costs for those elderly wishing to downsize.

Free/subsidised swimming/sports for all to get us up off our .......

and (not really a budget thing but I have to say!) - fine cyclists who cycle on the road where there is a cycle lane!

Scrap the TV licence & let the BBC survive on it's merits. It's chock-full of adverts anyway.

Abolish business rates and substitute a scheme based solely on ability to pay, ie profits.

There is already a method of assessing that in corporation tax - why not just add a percentage supplement and then pass that to local authorities?
