PAID £57.00 ADDITIONAL FEE TO CHOSE ROW 14 SEATS A B & C. OUTGOING AND RETURN FLIGHT. TOM 7422 AND TOM 7423. AS THIS WAS THE LAST ROW PRIOR TO THE EXIT DOORS.
WE WOULD USUALLY CHOSE ROW 16 AS THIS IS THE ROW BEHIND EXIT ROW 15 (WHICH WE CAN NOT SELECT DUE TO HAVING A UNDER 16 WITH US)
ROW 15 USUALLY CONTAINS 2 SEATS, SO WE NORMALLY CHOSE ROW 16 BECAUSE THE SEAT NEAR WINDOW THEN HAS ADDITIONAL LEG ROOM, WITHOUT ADDITIONAL CHARGES, FOR MY HUSBAND WHO IS 6FT 4 INCHES TALL. THIS FLIGHT HOWEVER, DID NOT HAVE 2 SEATS ON ROW 15, IT WAS ALL 3 SEATS.
SO WE CHOSE ROW 14 SO WHEN WE RECLINED THE SEATS (NECESSARY DUE TO HEIGHT OF HUSBAND, AND MY BAD BACK) WE WOULD BE ABLE TO RECLINE FOR WHOLE JOURNEY AND NOT INCONVENIENCE ANYONE SITTING BEHIND.
I HAVE COMPLAINED TO THE AIRLINE AS WE WERE AT NO POINT MADE AWARE THIS ROW (14) DID NOT HAVE THE ABILITY TO RECLINE. INFACT IT WAS THE ONLY ROW ON THE PLANE WHICH HAD STATIC SEATS. AT NO POINT WAS I MADE AWARE OF THIS FACT. I WAS MIS-SOLD "NORMAL SEATS".
7 OR 8 EMAILS HAVE NOW GONE BACK AND FORTH BETWEEN TUI AND MYSELF AND TODAY I RECEIVED A LETTER THROUGH THE POST STATING:
QUOTE "FROM LOOKING AT YOUR SEATING PLAN OF THE AIRCRAFT YOU FLEW WITH, YOU HAD CHOSEN NORMAL SEATS AND THE RECLINER IN NORMAL WITH ALL SEATS EXCEPT PREMIUM".
NOW THAT STATEMENT CLEARLY STATES "ALL SEATS HAVE NORMAL RECLINE". WHICH IS INFACT TOTALLY INACCURATE AND FALSE.
THE FIRST WE KNEW ABOUT THIS STATIC SEAT WAS ONCE SEATED ON THE FLIGHT, I CALLED THE STEWARDESS AND SHE CONFIRMED WE SHOULD DEFINATELY BEEN INFORMED ROW 14 ON THAT FLIGHT IS ALWAYS STATIC DUE TO THE SAFETY OF THE EXIT BEHIND US.
Ideal solution I REQUIRE A FULL REFUND OF £57 I UNNECESSARILY PAID FOR INADEQUATE AND FALSELY ADVERTISED "NORMAL SEATS".
AM I BEING UNREALISTIC?

yes you should have been told the seats do not recline before you paid for them. look at seatguru, find a map https://www.seatguru.com/airlines/Thomson_Airways/Thomson_Airways_Boeing_737-800.php that says no recline and argue that row 14 is an exception to normal.
don't e mail, send a letter in the post.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0 -
And remember to keep writing in all capital letters, otherwise they might not pay any attention to your complaint.0

Thomson don't have any aircraft where there are only 2 seats on Row 15, and I notice seatguru is accurate as normal. It doesn't mention Row 15 don't recline either. Reclining doesn't help when you're tall. Your legs are still in the same position, with knees wedged in the armrests gap either side of the seat in front.
Your seats were normal. You could have been on an aircraft where none of the seats recline. It's up to the customer to research suitable seats prior to selecting. You buy a seat on flight from A - B. They don't guarantee it will recline, just like sitting in a 'window' seat doesn't mean you'll get a window.
As for their reply, whoever answered it is clearly talking about a different aircraft for some reason. Since when have their narrow bodied aircraft had premium lol.0
