I am wondering if you could talk with a friendly teacher and explain your dilemma and ask for their suggestions as to how you can gift time instead of money.
Excellent idea; perhaps the school would let you run a cookery class where the children make their own bread???

Thanks guys thats all very helpfull.

I might just make 1 large crocodile per class, I think that would work out cheeper. I usually cut open the mouth and put a gingerbread man inside ~ the kids love it as it's really funny:rotfl:
Can you please tell us how you make the crocodiles???

As I have become a little more mature and broader in the beam the compliments about nice clothes, hair, make up etc have ceased to happen

 Can I say how smashing you look today - that's a lovely outfit you're wearing too, and have you had your hair done? It looks great! :D

And frogga...you do far more than could be expected of anyone! You obviously want to make the rolls, and it would be the last year, so is there anyone who would chip in towards the cost? School, other parents etc?

    In fact, I'll help!

Print as many as you like! :D

I'll send you a real one if it'll help? How much are 120 rolls?
If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.

  • Have managed to watch this from work. I went through a spell when I seemed to be doing everything for the school Autumn Fayre - baking cakes, doing bric a brac, knitting something like 100 Jean Greenhow pumpkins and designing and printing off the posters! Also have typed out two receipte books for them which was sent to print and raised a huge amount of money. After my kids left primary school they kept contacting me to say - do you still not want to particpate. My answer was, yes but as a participant on the buying front, paying my entrance money and enjoying my cup of coffee.

When kids went to secondary school I was asked to go on the school board. I declined but did the Cluster attendance panel for 4 years (I might say rather harrowing when we had to refer kids to the Children's Panel). I felt I did my responsible bit at various stages in kids' school days.

Great News ~ the headmaster said he would LOVE to help out by organising the cookery class!! There are only 4 classes and the cook has ( albeit reluctantly) agreed we can bake them in the school ovens:T . He also said they will pay for the ingreedients !!! Yippeee , a really happy outcome for all:T

Thanks for all your suggestions and kind words, esp the money!!! What a great scam this could have been ( note to self:rotfl: )

I have got photos of the croc bread but I dont know how to put it on the compuyer. If one of you could send me an idiot proof , step by step guide I'll have a go , then at least you can all see what we've been talking about!! It's a real photo not one on a digtal camera xx

    Thanks guys xxxxxxxxxxxx

  • oh mulled wine too - can I have your recipe for that as well cdg1111 I will be busy mulled wine and hedgehogs!

The mulled wine is the recipe from the back of the Schwarts(?) mulled wine sachet box. I use any value ingredients I can except the brandy which is the own brand but not value.
