Do I need to start being tight and stop being generous ?

It might just be my pregnancy hormones, but I burst into tears reading people offering to send money. So glad the school is going to let you cook the rolls there and pay for the ingredients - you'll be giving twice over by teaching the kids how to make the rolls themselves.
Some of my clearest memories from primary school are of when we did cooking - making scrambled egg when we were doing a project about farms and I was in the chicken group!0 -
Just to say I'm so pleased for you Frogga

Good for you frogga!
For those who suggested she start up a business, it isn't worth it most of the time with baking. People just don't want to pay more than for a packet of rich tea biscuits - for the same number of homemade ones!
Also, home kitchens arent' suitable for commercial work. The ovens are too small, the counter tops and floors need to be easily washable (many aren't) when you have to wash everything down each day x 2. you have to have a second sink just for handwashing, and if you have a loo right off the kitchen you wont' get certification as you have to have 2 doors between the kitchen and the loo.
I looked into it- I make fab cookies - and unless i built and designed my home kitchen to accomodate all that, I would have to look into a commercial space. Even at the cheapest I could find I'd have to make 6,000 cookies a month to break even and I still wouldn't have drawn a wage.
The only exception to this seems to be wedding cakes, but you have to have the training in the floral sugar decorations etc that brides want.0 -

Awwahhh, well done frogga! I agree with the other posters, offering your time as well as your skill is one of the greatest and most generous things you can do. Ladies and Gentlemen, it is with the utmost pleasure I have the honour of presenting a picture of this most fabulous loaf of bread, as created by frogga:
