You WILL get paid out.
They MIGHT get repaid. If they don't, it counts as a strike against you for NCB purposes.0 -
Before placing too much weight on maddogb's opinion in these matters, you may like to look back through his past history. He took his insurer to court over a similar valuation issue, and lost, but painted it as a victory.
Yes do look back at that thread as this guy was very wrong and is now, I did not lose they settled, I did lose a claim for punitive damages but that was minor.
Had I listened to Adrian I would be £2000 worse off than I am now0 -
I had a Peugeot 306 Dturbo (a special edition) written off a few years ago. The insurance company tried paying out on a basic Peugeot 306 non turbo diesel on the basis that the make and model is the same. I scoured autotrader and main dealers for more expensive versions of the same specification vehicle and basically stuck with the "I want that one" mentality. Eventually they paid up and even let me keep the written off car for free.
I'd recommend you do the same.0 -

Thanks, I'll give it my best shot
It would probably cost less than £100 to replace the headlight unit, the rest is only bodywork damage so it should be OK to run the car for a while and get the rest done at a later date.0 -

Don't forget you can claim any increase in future premiums due to this accident.0

Why only if you need it for work? I need mine for going shopping etc.
I don't necessarily always think or write every scenario going, just forgot to add "etc"after which would have made it clearer.
After mine was taken off the road I had 2 weeks where I could get around to work on my bike, go shopping in my other half's car etc until I got a hire car to source a new car :beer:Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.
