This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning all :hello:
Awake since 4am and I've just got up and made a cup of tea. My head hurts, probably tiredness, but hopefully a couple of cups of tea will sort that.
I have an early start at work today so no time to try and grab another hours sleep. On the plus side I should finish early but that remains to be seen.
I am totally out of fresh fruit (apart from oranges), salad and veg so need to go to the SM today, I also need to call in at the pharmacy and get a prescription...hopefully I'll have the energy to do so after work and not just flake out on the sofa
I haven't quite got the hang of this typing and drinking tea malarkey...whilst wittering on about not much really:p my tea has cooled somewhat more than is to my liking..so my kettle is calling me :rotfl:
Have a good day folks and take care'I'm sinking in the quicksand of my thought

Morning All
Dry and fairly mild this morning but rain due later. Yesterday afternoon was lovely, sunshine and blue skies.
Well done on selling your car RR, and pleased that the eagle has been found.
Met friends after work and had a lovely treat of fish and chips, ages since I had that. Meeting another friend after work today for a curry, I could get used to this no cooking malarky!
Washing up to date and I got a few computer based things done last night, don't really know why I put them off for so long, they were quick to do.
Hope you all have a good day, take care. XX0 -
Morning everyone and thank you for starting us off karcher.
This will be short as I must get my bum in gear and go and earn our living.
I have woken up with sinus pain. I've got some spray stuff but nothing as effective as the stuff the gp prescribes, though not sure if I want that again, that's a steroid thing, will I suddenly get a strong, weightlifting nose? Or a weight gain in the nose area, goodness knows I am podgy enough, though not in the face.
Had a lovely day off yesterday, it was spring like and such a nice change from gloomy skies. Still dark so can't tell about today, but I'm working anyway.
Hope everyone has a good day and that LW is ok.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
Also great news about Scampi, I should think he's been scared to bits by a person in a hat.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0

Morning :hello:
tiredmum The magic is in the SchmackoI started a new thing - I throw bits of schmacko 2' in front of Scampi while saying 'go find' on the first half of our walk, mostly when we see one of his triggers but sometimes for no reason at all (I realised he wasn't reacting just to get the treat, but was still anxious, so I've been a bit more random lately), by the time we turn around to come home he mostly ignores all the scary things, treat or not. Both triggers the other day were at the end of our walk and didn't involve treats at all.
LameWolf I hope yesterday went well for you xx
We really don't know his history, but the behaviourist (along with a few people who have had dogs for years) have said that his reactions to certain things (so many things...) almost certainly come from how he was treated for the first six months of his life. So I think you're right about the hats. You too ancientofdays (only just seen your post, as I did a preview)
The chickens have to stay in prison til 28th feb, then they can have freedomDEFRA has mentioned extending it in some areas, they have an interactive map which I'm constantly checking and we're in a safe area.
JackieO I've managed to make Scampi comfortable with the hoover, I used to get it out and leave it in the middle of the room with treats on itHe should be grateful anyway, seeing as most of the mess I hoover up is dog fur, lol.
I usually have seeds on the go by now. I have a tall plastic shelving unit which I bring into the kitchen and load with propagators. But lounge furniture is still crowding the hall and kitchen so I haven't been able to get started. I hope by the time there's space, I'm not too late.
Work – neat and tidy. Yarn – neat and tidy. No dust. New Dyson part attached and the stairs have been vacuumed. I feel like I'm getting somewhere
I'll work for a couple of hours, til the shopping arrives. Once that's been put away, I'll take Scampi out on his long lead (30ft). I can't let him off on the field near my house, it's too close to the road. He didn't get any wandering time last week, it was half-term and I worry when there's lots of kids about. It's nice and quiet during the day now so hopefully he'll enjoy it

Morning folks and thanks for the start KARCHER. We are forecast a nice morning then rain later. Yesterday's wind and rain battered us for a while before moving on to mither somebody else.
Mr TA and I are off to Skipton on the bus today. It's not a market day but we hope to have a stroll along the canal before the rain arrives. Being a Tuesday it's Steak Day at 'Spoons so that's on the agenda for a late lunch. (Oh dear bang goes the diet again!) It's not Mr TA's idea of fun but I shall poke my nose in a few cs afterwards, with strict instructions to myself not to buy any more books!
So a no cooking day today. I will leave some lentil & bacon soup defrosting in the fridge for a snack, with a sarnie, this evening.
TRU you deserve a medal, you have had the patience of a saint with Scampi. And well done for realising he doesn't trust people in hats. LAMEWOLF how did yesterday go? I hope you managed as well as you could.
Well have a nice day folks and (HUGS) as always for the poorlies, worried and sad amongst us. Take care whatever you are up to x"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Now light, dry and reasonably mild, heating turned off as we got too hot on Sunday - hoping to keep it off as long as possible. Washing went on the line outside yesterday but was disappointed as it didn't get anywhere near dry, will try again today after checking the forecast.
DH up and gone to work stupid stupid early, DS1 and DS2 still in their pits, DS1 on hols from work this week to use up holiday, DS2 will be getting in the shower shortly as he's back to college today after the half term break. I'm back to work tomorrow after also using up some hols.
Dinner last night was gammon, egg, chips/jacket potato, peas/veg, cake/ice cream for dessert. I did get the pork steaks out to defrost but left them in a dish in the fridge and they're still frozen solid this morning, so that will need to be a re-think - I'm thinking I could make a potato bake, I have some scallops in the shells (special promo at MrL**l) not something we've tried before, and I could make a frittata/omelette and some steamed veg. The pork steaks will then be tomorrow nights' dinner, and I'll prep the potatoes later so that job is done ready.
Yesterday I was reasonably productive, dentist first thing was ok, but rather expensive, but I go back in 3 months. I got rid of first load of rubbish bags at the recycling centre, there's more in the boot of my car and there's likely to be more, porch looking so much better but dining room table still full and has majority of the porch contents on it - I bought some replacement storage boxes and DH's doesn't want them on the shelving unit in the porch but we had them before and it stops things being knocked over etc - also anything that spills only makes a mess in the box not all over the carpet etc, so I've made an executive decision that we need them, he wanted me to take them back - which isn't going to happen, it also looks much tidier.
Keep safe and well x

Good morning everyone :hello:
It's all go here this morning with the girls fighting over using the kettle to get their hair washed etc. I think I will wait until they are in school before I have my wash and get dressed.
I have someone with the same name as me coming to look at our boiler so we can get a new one. It made for a very surreal phone call.
My dog is on sausage watch for me as I am grilling a load to put in the fridge for the next few days. He keeps coming and sighing by me as he is so desperate for one as they are his absolute favourite. I always cook an extra one so I don't know why he is fretting.
I managed to get most of the house clean yesterday and I slept so much better I think because my bedroom was tidy and dusted. I even took down my nets to wash them and I was disgusted when i saw them. Thankfully they came back up white so they have been rehung.
I am making a chilli for tea tonight with jacket spuds for the family and cauli rice for me. Looking forward to it as I love spicy food.
Hope you all have a lovely day whatever you are up to, take care xx0
