New car, option I specified now standard
Looking for some advice on my situation.
Ordered a new car last June , there was upto 12 months wait and was informed that the price at time of order will be price protected against any price rises . The price has risen twice since june, however, an option that I ordered is now standard.
Can I be charged for this option or should the cost be subtracted?

What has the dealer said?
What car is it that is worth waiting 12 months for?Thinking critically since 1996....0 -
You have two price increases in the bank - you want to change the original contract, might the dealer want to do the same?0

You agreed to pay £x (made up of £y base + £z option). You will be paying no more than £x.0

Focus RS.
Dealer isn't sure but thinks it will be chargeable.
I can't get my head round how an item which is now standard can still be changed for.0 -
I get that, and I'll pay what was agreed.
But, I'm struggling to see how it can be charged for if it's now a standard feature.
At the time, it was £y base + £z option.
You agreed with the dealer that if the cost rose, your buy price would not.
Now, it is £a including feature. £a is more than £x.
Yet you want to pay LESS than the originally agreed deal...?
Sorry, it doesn't work like that.
But if you ask the dealer nicely, I'm sure they'll rip the agreement up and charge based on the current price list, where the feature is standard...0 -
Looks like you want the positives of a fixed deal (no price rise) but also want to avoid the negatives (options).0

There's an upto 12 months wait, it's standard on cars delivered in upto 12 months, not retrospectively fitted to prestandard deliveries.
Same way if they withdraw an option from standard you'd expect your car to still come with it.0 -
Cancel your order and if you paid a non refundable deposit forfeit that. You can then order the car again getting the free upgrade (at the uplifted price) without any problem.0

Base price of car is price protected, any options specified at time of order can be removed or others added upto the date when a build slot is allocated.
When I heard the option was going to be fitted as standard, I rang the dealer and asked for the option to be removed, it was no longer possible to, not because the car had a build date, but because it was showing as being a standard feature, the other options I'd specified were still possible to remove or different ones added.
So, my original question (maybe I didn't phrase it clearly), can I be charged for something that's no longer chargeable?
Anyone here with actual advice/knowledge on this please?0
