Hello,
I have been searching for a holiday to Dubai (for my parents) and after not really getting anywhere online myself, I contacted a local travel agent for help.
For some reason we are unable to fly from Inverness to Dubai on the dates asked for (monday 15th october-friday 19th or sat 20th October) staying at the Jameirah Beach hotel (or similar) best they can offer is
Departing Glasgow 15 Oct 2007 Staying at the Burj a Arab with flights and transfers the cost would be £5074.54 this price does not include insurance.
For holidays staying at the Jumeirah Beach Hotel the price would be £3174.54
For holidays staying at the Mina a Salam the price would be £3494.50
For the Mina a salam and Jumeirah we cannot guarantee this accommodation, only request it as all hotels in Dubai are booked up for these dates due to school holidays. Thomson would then confirm whether these hotels are available.
All prices are subject to change
There is no availability from Inverness or Aberdeen
Does anyone know how we can get flights from Inverness To Dubai without having to travel to Glasgow (4 hours drive away)
ANY advice more than welcome!

You fly from Inverness / Aberdeen to an airport where there are flights to Dubai - including Glasgow0

Have a look on ebookers Just done a quick search and you can fly from Inverness, changing at Heathrow to Dubai on 15/10/07 returing 19/10/07 and get a range of accommodation for under £2,000 for 2 people. I don't know Dubai so don't know what the hotels are like but there is a range. Not sure if transfers are included but seems cheaper than what you've found already so sure something could be arranged.0

Ebookers can do you flights from inverness 15th OCT (arriving 8 am 16th) to 20 OCT - 1 change via London for £1300.
http://www.asiarooms.com/united_arab_emirates/dubai.html have the 5* Jumeirah Beach resort for £990 ,The 6* Burj Al Arab for £2900
Id be saving the extra money. The Jumeira Beach Hotel is luxury enough for anyone in my opinion, 20 resturants to choose from.
If you are concerned about independant bookings , take your (my;)) research into an INDEPENDANT TA. They should be able to wrap it up with ABTA and ATOL protection for about £20 pp
Oh, and when passing, tell the girl at Thomson to get a grip. Thats nearly a THOUSAND POUNDS of a difference.0 -
The risk of your checked in luggage getting lost at heathrow is quite high, so it may be worth the drive to Glasgow to avoid this.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0

Yes, Richard -and the delays/cancelations could knacker it up too. Both BA and BMI arent the greatest if you have a connection to make.
Drawback is Emirates Glasgow - Dubai flights have rubbish arrival and departure times IMO
Arriving at 00.30 means you need to pay for a day and not really get it. You then need to checkout around 3am for 07.50 flight back.
Overall, Emirates is the safer option, but you would have to pay and stay an extra day to make it all worthwhile.0 -
Emerates fly to Newcastle now ..It may be worth looking for cheap flights their ...If it's not too far to travel0

Emirates fly from MANchester, Newcastle, Birmingham and Gatwick, but the flight times might not be better than from Glasgow.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0

We have had 2 flights in 2 years via Heathrow, both BA, where luggage has gone missing. The first was to Dubai, my son had to wait 5 days before his case turned up, we were only in Dubai for 7 days. We have just returned from Singapore minus one case, to their credit BA did Currier it to our home the next day.
We also had significant delays almost missing our connecting flight to Singapore, we got to the gate at Heathrow as they were boarding. On the return we had a 4 hour delay, missing our connecting flight at Heathrow getting home 7 hour later.0
